View Full Version : problem with selection of multiple audio tracks?

I'm using the current version of autogk and was wanting to include the commentary tracks in some rips. However this version has checkboxes and a list of audio tracks instead of the 'first audio track' and '2nd audio track' dropdowns shown in all the tutorials and guides (which i did check!)
anyhoo.. i figured all this change did was make it so i could select more than 2 audio tracks if i really wanted, but I tried checking 2.. the original audio and a commentary, and only one track showed up in the rip according to vlc. I then doublechecked the log and there is no mention of a second audio track anywhere.
So what do I need to do to get it to work? Do I have to find an old version of the program? I find this quite odd.. I feel like I must me missing something, but I haven't found anything online or in the program to help me...
edit: should note that I'm on windows xp and am using 2.55

Do you have something like Haali Media Splitter installed? By default, multiple audio tracks won't be selectable in an .avi container.

i used dvd decrypter to rip the discs and was encoding with auto-gk.. i just installed as-is, but it lists multiple audio tracks on the features list so i assume it should be able to do that out of the box. i use vlc to watch 'em which allows you to chose different audio tracks, but i assume they're not there because there's no mention of a second audio track in agk's logs

So does Windows Media Player, but it won't let you select them from an .avi encoded by AutoGK unless you have a filter installed.
Open the file with GSpot or VirtualDubMod and see if it shows one or two audio tracks.

well whaddaya know virtualdubmod says it has 2 streams.. thought it would have mentioned such in the log. but i can't actually use the streams? seems kinda silly. how do i actually use them? (and why wasn't that in the faq?? ;) )

i also have a question about the audio tracks.. i'd thought it'd use as much as it needed. i'm ripping a tv show and it has been doing 50 mb for audio and 300 for video.. in gspot this shows up as video - 294 mb audio 50.8 mb avi overhead 5.92 mb.. the bitrate shows up as 108. for the vid with director's commentary i set it for 400 megs knowing that the audio would be roughly 50 mb. but here's what i got in the container: video: 306 mb, audio 43.4 mb, avi overhead 51.3mb and i can see both audio tracks are at an avg bitrate of 108. .. is it using the avi overhead for the other audio track? that's what it seems like!
also wondering if there's a way to get one audio track a lower bitrate.. i don't need clear quality on the commentaries.. would rather use much of that data elsewhere.

addendum to add.. it is working and will play in vlc after another try. the one epsidoe i had run the preview on wasn't working for some reason, but some other ones were. so it's all working now. thanks for chiming in though, it's appreciated!

Remember in my first reply where I mentioned installing a filter to allow the selection of multiple audio tracks in an .avi file (Example: Haali Media Splitter)?
