Now that 1.8 is out, is it safe to replace virtualdub 1.7 in the gordian knot folder with 1.8? Just thought i'd ask as the latest version of smartripper get give problems, perhaps the same goes for vdub...
Thanks,

I wouldn't try it personally. I've been using Vdub 1.4.8 to encode my XviDs but it appears 1.4.8 has problems muxing. 1.4.7 still works great for my muxing needs. Stick with 1.4.7 or you'll most likely have some problems.

BTW- 1.4.8 and XviD encoding work perfectly:)

I doesn't work. At least for me it didn't.
I installed Gnot, then the 0.23 update, then cleaned the Virtual Dub directory, then copied all the new Virtual Dub 1.8 files to there. But when trying to encode a movie, after doing the audio, Gnot tried to start the Vdub but nothing happened. so i reverted to Vdub 1.4.7 and all went well again.
Conclusion: wait for TheWEF to update the Gnot package.
