Hi All,

Long time lurker, recent new user, first time poster.

Are there any publicly accessibly databases of BD titles and the version of AACS used per title? I know that one of the discs I own will revoke the hostkey for aacskeys and MakeMKV (having already lost one drive this way), but I don't know which one!

Alternatively, are there any tools out there for parsing MKB_RO.inf files so as to determine the AACS version?

I'm aware of the thread containing a list of DiscIDs and VUKs, but I have a number of discs that aren't listed.

Thanks in advance,

MrJ

According to the specs, the drives are required to take over the blacklist from the disc, as soon as a player authenticates with the drive.
So theoretically, a tool reading the MKB and telling you the version would be ok, since it won't have to authenticate (that's why AnyDVD checks for the version before it authenticates, so your drive would remain "clean").

But in reality, tests have shown that the drives - at least many of them - replicate the blacklist as soon as the disc is in the drive. So if you don't want to mess up your blacklist, it's no option.

Still: I'd be surprised if you have a disc that would blacklist your current MakeMKV key (or AnyDVD's for that matter).
All discs we know of so far go up to MKB16.
Also, you don't "lose" a drive that way. Worst case scenario would be having to wait a few days, until the software is updated with a new key.

If you actually do have a disc with MKB17, what's its title?

Here's the thing; my old drive (this one from Overclockers.co.uk http://www.forworld.com.tw/ENGLISH/product_1-2.html) had the default aacskeys and makemkv hostkeys revoked, and I have no idea how - I just presumed one of my titles had revoked them! It also started doing weird stuff like rejected DVDs too, so I returned it as faulty. I've since replaced it with a LiteOn drive which has re-read all of the discs I'd put in the other Forworld drive without a problem - hostkeys for aacskeys and makemkv both work fine. So, I guess the original drive was just faulty.

BTW - If a drive has a problem reading a BluRay disc, FOR ANY REASON, you'll see that very scary notice - but read it CAREFULLY, as all it says is "maybe" ;>}

OK, that makes more sense, now :)
