well, I checked all the posts concerning this error, tried everything they said, reinstalled win2k pro (sp2), even winme and win98 on other partitions, reinstalled avisynth with a manual registry cleaning... and nothing works
the problem is with the LOTR screener SVCD. with tons of other svcd´s I managed to convert them to divx with no probs at all. I DID use the dvd2avi that comes with gknot pack (in fact, I installed always gk .21, then .23 upgrade). The movie plays correctly through pdvd 2.55 and 3.
so I created the d2v project and gknot launched this error. vfapi converter cannot make the vfapi avi. avisynth is correctly installed (version() always work). I tried to make manually an avisynth script like:

LoadPlugin("d:\dvd\mpeg2dec.dll")
mpeg2source("d:\dvd\lotr.d2v")

of course, the dll is the one that comes bundled with gknot pack.... I get the following error message when trying to play it on wmp6:

Unrecognized exception!
(D:\dvd\test.avs, line 2)

my machine is a:
AMD Duron 800 on a GA7IXE4 mobo, 640 MB of pc133 SDRAM, GeForce 2 MX with detonator 12.81, Sblive with liveware 3, realtek 8029 as network card, Flyvideo 98 capture card, Win2k pro sp2, win98se and winme

any ideas? thanx in advance

trying more things. of course, TMPGEnc did not demux the svcd streams, but bbdmux did. the demuxed file is playable on wmp, but the dvd2avi project is still unreadable by gknot.
any ideas?

thx in advance! :)

This might a bit weird but here's what I did when i first encoutered this , after dvd2avi said it finished I noticed that my hard disc was still working, so the second time I waited for the hard disc to come to a full stop. Then the d2v project worked just fine. Weird solution but it really did work, as I have encoutered this a few more times and the solution was always the same. By the way how are you c0p0n?

a weird solution, but a valid one! I did what U suggested, and it worked like a charm. now I wonder what does dvd2avi when it says that the project file is complete...
thanx a lot again, my friend!!!

:( Ah, too bad.
Well, i will have to wait a little longer.
By the way, after my post about were could i get the LOTR dvd, a friend of mine told me that the dvd edition would only come out when the 3 movies were displayed in the cinemas all over world.
So this means that i would have to wait 2 more years to get the dvd...
Is this true?

although this has became totally off-topic, I´ve heard the same about the DVD, they will release it after the 3 movies have been displayed.
if U have a good connection, you could download it on edonkey, or maybe on a fxp group if you know some. but this is totally illegal..

Well, I could be wrong, but I heard differently. Supposedly the DVD of The Fellowship is coming out in August....
