hi,
i tried to rip a dvd with autogk, version 2.55, and i allways get the above mentionted error (see also screenshot).
i reinstalled toe software again and again - used the full setup "AutoGordianKnot.2.55.Setup.exe".
i tried different dvds (i use to hd ripped images in a virtual device via daemon tools).
other progs like DVDFab are working, but i would like to use freeware.
anyone who can help me getting it to work? what info do you need?

VLC doesn't use directshow filters. Try to install ac3filter or better, ffdshow...
maybe...

(i use to hd ripped images in a virtual device via daemon tools).
Decrypt the movie only to the hard drive. Not image files, but IFOs, BUPs, and VOBs.

i installed ffdshow 8see screenshot for settings), but i still get the same error message.
i only decrypt the movie to the harddrive.
i just meant, that i rip from dvd-image in a virtual drive instead of a dvd in the dvd-drive.
any other tips?

Purely as an experiment what happens if you just select one of the VOB files when using AutoGK?

And what happens if you just encode the file without previewing it? How bad do you need to preview?

@netmask: it does work, if i just choose one vob file - why doesnt it when taking the ifo?
@cwr03: i need the preview for verifing the correct resolution.
shouldnt the preview work with ifo, too? converting does work...

what is the name of the IFO that doesn't work - are there more than one IFO files in the collection?

sorry, for taking so long to answer, but i am a lot traveling...
the ifo, that i took is: "VIDEO_TS.IFO"
there are also "VTS_01_0.IFO", "VTS_02_0.IFO", "VTS_03_0.IFO", "VTS_04_0.IFO" and "VTS_05_0.IFO", which do cause the same error as described above.
i have this problem with every dvd i try. its not specific to just one movie.

You are suppose to select VTS_01_0.IFO not VIDEO_TS.IFO
AutoGK will then pick up the movie. If you select "VIDEO_TS.IFO" AutoGK will present an error message "Error parsing IFO file"

What operating system do you have? If you have either Vista or Windows 7 you could try making all elements within the AutoGK folder run as XP SP2 and make sure all usesr have full permissions as well, notwithstanding you may be the administrator.
Go to all the exe files within programs/autogk folder and mark then XP SP2 and all likely users have full permission ie everyone. I had to do this on a friends Windows 7 box although he had different errors. Worth a try.

Does everything work when you choose the first VOB file of the main movie? If it does, why not just do that? The result will be the same.

i choose the ifo, cause one vob is just a part of the movie (afaik).
and if i choose a vob, i cannot see, in what language the audio stream is

Where do you rip your DVD to ie C drive, D drive etc. I noticed in an earlier post reference to a virtual drive? Maybe you should do a simple rip to a real internal drive and save to a real drive then run AutoGK.

If you pre-rip the DVD with DVDFab HD Decrypter you'll be able to see and demux only the language(s) you want.
When you select the first VOB in a list, the rest are automatically loaded into the project.
Yet another option would be to load the first VOB to get your preview ability, set it the way you want, then load the IFO you want and re-enter those same parameters.

The problem for the OP is when he tries to load from any IFO file he gets the error. Personally I would uninstall all audio programs and codecs etc and start over. He is running XP SP3 which is the same as my old computer and I had no problems of any kind with AutoGK so I think it is another program or collections of codecs etc that is causing the problem.

The problem for the OP is when he tries to load from any IFO file he gets the error.
Then the problem would be solved by ripping only the needed tracks and loading the first VOB file.

Good idea as a work around to solve the immediate problem but it doesn't solve the underlying problem as to why AutoGK doesn't pick up the IFO file as it should.
