Hello,

I ripped a movie and following Gknot guide, ran DVD2AVI on the movie itself. I ended up with 2 .ac3 audio files. Why 2? One is at 192Kbps and the other one is at 448Kbps. If I encode in Gknot, do I insert 2 audio channels? And if I do, does it make a difference which one is in Audio 1 and which one is in Audio 2?

thank you experts in advance for the help,
Sam:)

The 2 files you speak of are 2 totally differnt audio streams. The smaller 192Kbps AC3 is a Dolby ProLogic stream. The other AC3 you have is a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio stream. You need to only select one of them in Gknot depending on what your ultimate audio quality goal is.

Gknot can just mux the AC3 into the AVI for you or encode it to a smaller MP3 file if your trying for a 1 CD rip. If you haven't done so, please read the Gknot guide and browse the audio forums for more information. Enjoy:D

The .txt file created by SmartRipper can also tell you what the audio streams are.

I recommend you review Doom9's DVD Basics. It's right above the Forum link on the left side of http://www.doom9.org/
