Dear All!

Is there a way to play DVD-audio discs with MPC HC?
Any combination of external filters, etc?

Your reply would be very much appreciated
Thank you!

Nope. MPC(-HC) would require a DVD-Audio navigation filter,
a .AOB splitter, plus an MLP decoder. Sadly no capable programmer has taken the time to create them.

Not even with using Cyberlink DS filters and ffdshow's mlp decoder?
Thank you

Part 2:

If you're interested in only hearing DVD-Audio on the PC,
you can simply use ShaPLAY, or foobar2000 + the DVD-A plugin (created by Maxim Anisiutkin) ;

http://www.videohelp.com/tools/ShaPLAY

http://sourceforge.net/projects/dvdadecoder/

Part 1:

I have never used PowerDVD, nor WinDVD or Creative MediaSource, but I suppose their filters are not allowed to work outside of their respective "parent applications". :(

HTH.

All filters from PowerDVD 8 work outside the box.
Power DVD 9, ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre3, Corel WinDVD9:
No chance using their filters outside the aplications. However ,if you haven't got any of them installed ,you can try HD pack 2.2 and 2.3 which contain Cyberlink PDVD9 (all in one) decoders and Arcsoft (all in one) decoders too.

I downloaded HD pack 2.3, do you know how to use these filters in MPC HC to get it play DVD audio discs?
Many thanks in advance!

1st of all be sure you haven't got already installed any version of Power DVD or an ArcSoft player, because the filters from HD pack 2.3 ,as u noticed, come together with Power DVD and Arcsoft installers ,so that would mess up your players ,in case you have them.
If you don't have any of those players(PDVD or ArcSoft) than it should work with no problems. In MPC_HC go in Options/External filters/Add filter. Select from the list the filters you want to use(ex. Cyberlink H264 PDVD9 decoder) and click Add filter. If you want to use mainly the chosen filter give it the highest merit( click prefer on the right section)
To make sure that filter is always being used ,go to Internal filters and uncheck similar MPC internal filters (H264/AVC(DXVA) or H264/AVC(ffmpeg), or both)
If you want to use more filters with a certain priority ,you can give' em different merits or block them(in case you don't want to load at all) .See more here:

I gave an example for a H264 filter. For Audio DVD's you have to chose different filters , I never tried that ,but it should work the same way, I guess.

I checked out the filters but unfortunately I was not able to set them up in MPC HC to play DVD-audio discs...:(

If it were that easy to make MPC and WMP deal with DVD-Audio by using the filters from payware applications, quite probably DVDA Explorer would not have been invented (and as a consequence, no ShaPLAY and no foo_input_dvda.dll either). Make sure you have read at least the following thread:
