OK, here goes guys so bear with me...This is primarily directed to those rippers who work with NTSC sources...
These are the tools Im using:
SmartRipper
DVD2AVI
VFAPI
VirtualDub (to frameserve the avi)
Cinema Craft Encoder 2.5 (to encode)
OK here goes,
I'm am trying to match the svcd scene standards.
When I go into DVD2AVI, if I save project using force film, and frameserve using virtualdub, my mpeg2 comes out fine, looks wonderful, but the framerate is 24 fps.
Now, if I go into DVD2AVI and make no changes to the feild order (keeping my source @ 29.97fps), and frameserve using virtualdub, I get strange results. I either get scan lines in my mpeg, or i get a motion blur. When I am encoding in CCE, I have been checking progressive frames (if that is of any importance.)
Basically, I want to get the look of a 24fps mpeg2 as a 29.97fps mpeg2. please dont say it cannot be done, because it can. (Look at the Lord of the Rings release from TCF; it looks exactly like a 24fps mpeg ive made, yet the frame rate is 29.97) Please, any help is greatly appreciated. If anyone is willing to look, I can email samples of mpegs ive made using various changes in the rip process to assist in helping me get the right settings.
