My setup: Z-5500 speakers connected via audio cables to Intel BOXDX48BT2 which uses the SigmaTel STAC9274D audio chipset. Drivers installed are IDT Audio latest from Intel's website. Rocker switch on the control box is set to 6-channel direct which is the same as my Effect setting. Operating system is XPx64 if it matters.
My problem: The IDT Audio Control Panel detects the correct speaker layout and sets to 5.1 surround sound with no problem, but when I try to run the setup I only hear noise from the FL and FR speakers, nothing from the center, rear or sub. When I play something with a native 5.1 sound source (AVI file using AC3 5.1) the voice is really quiet but background sound works fine, I believe that this is due to the aforementioned issue and is just a symptom. I have the same voice issue with Mass Effect 2. What kills me is that before I formatted I had this working by tweaking some settings, but I forgot what I did and can't replicate it. Anyone had this issue and knows the fix? Thanks.
