I have encoded some movies with DivX 3.11 (with GKnot). But at the playback i see some flickering of the movie. Why is that?Is it codec's fault? I mainly see this at high contrast scenes...Whith flickering i mean a horizontal line for some seconds...

Thanks,
MoonWalker

No.I am not talking about interlace. It's as if the picture spilts in half horizontaly for a microsecond.

Is this image tearing during playback or is it something you can pause in your player and see? I think someone had success with the divxg400 utility.

It's a tearing during playback.It's not on the movie.I don't know what it is.Maybe high bitrate?Dark scenes? I don't know..

You mean the one tha comes with powerdivx???

Make sure your overlay support is turned on

Try another player

Ultra fast answer :)..I use BSPlayer..I will try PowerDivX...When i turn the overlay on the video isn't so smooth ie i can see clearly horizontal lines but when i turn off it much more better. Not blury more sharp...

Doom9's forum is really snappy today about email notifications.

I always get tearing on my computers.

You could try forcing screen refreshes only during vertical retrace intervals. bsplay can do this.

I get tearing on high bitrate scenes as well, but my fastest is a 800mhz machine.

Try zoomplayer too. I hear good things about it.
