If you have a OEM computer like Sony, Compaq, Pckard Bell and such then in most saces the DVD-R in it is not the same as the retail version and need s diferant firmware.
To owners of the retail version of the Pionner -
Don't use the 1.68 firmware update.
While trying to install it it generated errors on my computer and rebooted itself.
I was lucky to able to reflash it to 1.55 and make it work again.
Better skip this one.

It worked fine for me. I'm running on v1.68 right now.

No problems here with V1.68 either.

One more...I had absolutely no problems with upgrading.
Even that my DVD-burner is the secondary slave, which is always said to be problematic to upgrade.
It was super easy with that Windows-Tools they build in the last time.
It even handled the installed Via-Bus Master Drivers.
From my point of view I don`t see any reason why an upgrade could be problematic.
