I am thinking about writting a tool for cutting VOB files, but before I can start anything, I need more info on the format of the VOB files.

I am looking for how the 2048 bytes blocks are broken down, what IDs are used for what, how the video and audio and subtitles are synced, ect...

any good links to technical info would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

You can peek at

Non authorative, but most certainly accurate enough for writing a splitter.

For authorative information, you can pay $5000.00 for a serial numbered copy of the DVD spec and when you want an updated version, you have to return your current copy with the matching serial number first. ;)

thanks, it does have alot of good information.

I also found the source code for bbTools 1.9 in the download section that gives some good information, by way of example, for decoding the VOBs.
