Hello.

I've been trying to find out about this H264 stuff and been searching around the web (also the search function here)for more information on the matter,
and tried to do some simple converting.
But whatever program I try, I don't understand a thing or it's not working properly or the H264 codec is not showing up.

Basically, what I'm asking is, what's the best program for a complete and total newbie to get into this converting and just try to convert a wmv or avi file into an H264 file for let's say HD Yotube videos?

Thanks in advance!

If you just want to convert a bunch of wmv or avi files with least loss of quality, try my solution:

If you insist on having a GUI, try MeGUI (though it's a pain for batching a bunch of conversions as far as I can tell). And search YouTube for a video on how to use MeGUI.

Try Ripbot264 or Staxrip.
