Hi, I tihinks this is the right section for my question, because it has nothing to do with problems whitin Flask...

So, what I wanted to ask, is if someone knows, what influences the speed in Flak Xis? I ask this because I wondered wy it takes the same time to encode with 128, 256 or 384 MB of RAM on my AMD XP 1600+. I know the processor is the most important  , but what is also important? Hard Disk maybe (5400 VS 7200)???

Another thing, is 16-21 fps for an 1600+ too slow? How much fsp do YOU get?

Bus Speed and CPU. Also CAS2 RAM will give a bit of a performance boost:)

I don't know specifics as I refuse to use the program because of stability and quality issues. Should have mentioned BIOS tweaks as well. The BUS speed will help most besides buying a faster CPU

If you want the ultimate quality and speed...check out the Gknot guide Doom9 has. Use the AVSynth methos and you'll get excellent speed not to mention the best possible quality.

You can always try to make a separate partition just for the swap file. And do some bios tweaking. Also, set the AGP aperture size to the half of your system memory (i.e if you have 512MB, set it to 256MB). All of this should give you some boost.
take care
