View Full Version : Create New Folder Doesn't Work

Recently I used some context edit programs. Unfortunately I hadn't used them in a while and uninstalled them before I could remember their names. Anyways, after uninstalling all of them I find myself unable to make new folders via the explorer icon in folders (the one right next to others such as Burn, Share With, etc). Anyone have any ideas what I could do to get the new folder button to work again.
I also can't use the context menu anymore so that idea is nix.

I would have made a system restore point before I mess with that kind of application so I can make a system recovery in case something got messed up which isn't that unlikely for that kind of application. I've developed shell extensions and applications that deal with file extensions so I have the knowledge and could just transfer the responsible keys from another system like one running in VirtualBox but that's a tedious task, a regular user would just reinstall the OS...
Maybe try this:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\New]
@="{D969A300-E7FF-11d0-A93B-00A0C90F2719}"

Hahaha. Well thanks Stax, you are of so much help ;). I don't suppose it should be that hard to fix but I'm still looking for a solution. I just figured out I don't have the whole "new" part of the context menu.
edit: I just found it. I had to restore the new menu handler (Thanks to windows 7 manager).
