I want to use my older System for that it's a

Barton 3200+ on an A7N8X Board with 2Gb of Ram and a 1950Pro from Ati.

I tried some videos with MPC and the CoreAVC codec and got some good frames at 720p files but when there is a 1080p file playing the rate goes down to around 15 to 17 fps.

BluRays and HDDvd - I haven't tried this yet.

is there a way to get it work? Is there maybe a cheap Hardware dongle for USB or a PCI card which can help me here to play MPEG2/.264/VC-1 files on that rig?

It's some kind of mystery why a WDTV can playback these things so good and a 3200 barton cannot.

Please help me.

The WDTV has a hardware decoder (probably an ASIC) that can handle real-time H.264 decoding.

Your barton 3200+ quite simply is too slow for such a task. A fast dual core, or any quad core is the baseline for High @ 4.1 H.264 at 1080p resolution with CABAC and Deblocking (aka a BluRay)

Thankfully, you can buy an AGP video card with a hardware decoder included. They're all quite ovepriced, so if you're considering replacing this pc, do so!

in a pinch a radeon 3450 should do
