View Full Version : CCE stops encoding

While encoding Gladiator it stopped encoding at roughly 2GB. I cancelled and used crash recovery and it encoded until the end re-using the .VAF file.

It seems to be systematic because restarting the entire project from scratch caused CCE to stop at exeactly the same point (as far as i remember). Also this time the crash recovery causes it to run until the end.

I'm running the 1.06b1 on Win2K with 256MB ram and P3/867 (Via chipset)

Any ideas?

Well, thanks for your answer, but you might as well say there is no solution. CCE doesn't freeze (it stops and I can press cancel to quit it), neither does Win2K, I'm not using a AMD chip, did read all what has been written about that subj...

So what's left? Bug in CCE2.50 or in Avisynth.

Anyone of you newbies and advanced users an idea?

thx, JOCKYW

Stopping is the CCE freeze issue. The program still responds to being cancled and the computer acts normal. Just the numbers freeze and the encode stops.
Read the forum there are about 100 posts on this and a very long sticky in the advanced forum.
Like I said this is a known issue. There are about 10 things to try and all are listed in previous posts.

You are right in a way now there is no answer. People continue to have problems with even the new beta's that are linked to download for people with freezing problems if you bothered to read the threads.

Thanks guys. That word "freezing" has confused me, also a lot of AMD users mix up their crash experiences.

Interesting, CCE stopped mpeg1 encoding with DVDx 1.7
This happened on the same PC. DVDx 1.7 uses the Premiere Video Server Plugin v.93 written by Edwin van Eggelen.

Don't use CCE for mpeg-1. If you want to encode mpeg-1 I highly reccomend using TMPG. It's a little more work, but it is much better at Mpeg-1 then CCE is. There is a guide on Doom9.org.

... I don't think it has been established CCE freezing is an AMD only issue, so you shouldn't have to be that surprised ;)

@Jockyw "a lot of AMD users mix up their crash experiences"

I think your the only person in here mixed up and that has nothing 2 do with if you use AMD or Pentium chips.

:D

Just to let you all know: the safe mode setting worked for me (on the same movie which stopped w/o safe mode), encoding speed went down by 30%
