hi -
i'm interested in making some backups of my dvds and wondering what to rip them with. of course i would love something free, since i have no money. i still have a copy of DVD Decrypter but can you use it to just rip with? i don't have blu-ray or any of the fancier type formats just regular dvds.
(i was thinking of getting AnyDVD to do the decrypting part)
TIA

DVDFab HD Decrypter is one of the easiest to use direct replacements for DVD Decrypter. The freeware version is fully functional for a basic backup or rip-to-file for later encoding. DVD Decrypter will still handle the vast majority of disks, but since it's no longer updated and there have been newer copy protection schemes released, it can't handle some newer disks alone. It will do just fine along with AnyDVD, but that's not free.

thanks CW, but i'm not sure i understand. did you mean DVDFab is a good replacement for DVD decryptor? so i should use it instead to do EVERYTHING (decrypt + rip)? you know i have a DVD Fab, just never used it.
yes, i know AnyDVD isn't free, but there is free trial.
good to know DVD Decryptor can still decrypt most stuff out there! amazing it has held up so long. (& i mean that as a compliment)
happy holidays.

I've pretty much quit using DVD Decrypter. I use ImgBurn for burning and aside for the odd episodic disk I use only DVDFab HD Decrypter. I like the listing of the PGC's in DVD Decrypter, and as far as I know only one TV show has been released that couldn't be ripped by it.
