I have been using G-Knot for 2 months now and love it so much I have switched over from Fair Use. I have been reading some of the comments/replies posted by the Mods here and find them very upbeat, respectful, and knowledgeable, GREAT WORK MODS.
Now for some questions aimed at anyone who knows the answers or a related thread, and I have looked through a lot of threads here before posting.

Movie background:
IMAX-Blue Planet
4:3
29.970 fps
FILM 99%
Progressive
720x480 (from DVD2AVI)

1. Compression test resulted in a 89.6 % @ 640x480, so I followed Doom's guide
The ideal range is 65% - 75%, above that value you could select a higher resolution.
I realise the important word here is could, so I increased the resolution to 704x528 (74.1%) but the H-Zoom went red at 110%.
Should I ignore this or keep the movie at the orginal 640x480 output?

2. I checked FORCE FILM, and when I open the d2v in the bottom left corner, it shows 23.976 fps. Although it showed 29.970 fps in the preview pane in DVD2AVI, I have never touched this setting, for I just put blind faith in TheWEFF and assume this is how things should be and IF I DON'T TOUCH IT, IT WON'T BREAK.
Am I correct on this hands off rule?

3. Although I haven't had an out-of-sync movie yet, because I rarely deviate from a guide(s) and I have been very lucky (fingers still crossed), the ac3 audio output sometimes has a DELAY -80 (just an example). In Nandub>Audio>Interleaving,
I leave the preload at 500 ms
Interleave audio every 96 ms
Delay Audio track by 0 ms

Help, should I be changing these above settings? If so to what.

To ask a question ONCE, shows a willingness to learn and admit a weakness.

Thank you to anyone who responds and I hope to help you out sometime.

:)

question: Have you keep the 4/3 ratio? I don't understand how you could have put a 704*528 resolution for the film when you get 720*480 from dvd2avi  .
To decrease compressibility test I used rather a sharper bicubic resize filter.I never go over the original resolution of the movie or very little and I put more black side to keep the ratio correct and not have H-zoom problem.
And for the change in frame per second in gknot (29.970->23.976) it is normal:D .

for me the right comp check should be 85-90 %
just leave it

1.its not usually a good idea to go over 100%

2.if it was film over 95% and progressive then you should force film

3. delay audio track should be -80

Are you sure about not selecting Force FILM, UHT? It's been my impression that Force FILM does a simple inverse telecine, so you should select it for film content.
