cce safe mode failure

[xrv1138]

dvd: independence day pal r4 interlaced
all runs vbr 4 pass
tried to do normal encode - played back result and saw it was interlaced
re-ran the process using deinterlacing (fields/every)
encode failed at 50 %
so
use the safe mode
appeared to be going ok
then the speed gradually crept up from 0.433 to 0.8+
so thought it might not work
finished product:
3 cue/bins
1st one 825 meg
2nd 149 meg
3rd 1 meg
when trying to play these bins the dvd player screen shows:
"avisynth: caught an access violation at 0x0bda572f, attempting to write to 0x00000000"
bitrates used: max 2350 min 300 min ave ticked 1800 maxave 2230

so safe mode failed (which is a bummer because i was hoping to use safe mode all the time as i get cce crashes about 50% of the time)
any ideas ?

If you can get a hold of it you might want to try 2.62, but only in safe mode.

given that this should be a 'safe' mode
going to try a different bitrate setup first on 'not safe' mode ;-)

This CCE problem is still much of a mystery to many. DVD2SVCD is trying hard to narrow the problem down without causing problems for those of us lucky enough to not have any problems.

Play close attention to the other CCE problem posts many have posted things to try.

Be careful not to get 2.64 this is actually a Beta from what I have read and not a stable version at that. DVD2SVCD has said he has had many problems with it.
