View Full Version : BIN/CUE files are TOO Large!

I had dvd2svcd 1.0.4 build 2
installed and upped to 1.0.6 build 1 pre 7... anyway, I'm proud to say
that the OLD CCE crash which used to get me down was no longer a
factor...

meanwhile, I now have two ready to burn BIN/CUE files... however,
their file size is above 800 MB (like 807MB) and the track size is like 4+ min on track 1 and 79+
min on track 2 = ABOVE 80 minutes....(like 84 min)

anyway, point being, I get an error using FireBurner because i run
out of space, and I can't even burn with Nero 5.5.6.4 because it
realized the disc was too small....

so, anyway, I went to http://server1.doom9.org/mpg/dvd2svcd.htm to
look at the Bit Rates used, and everything matched what I had...
however, it said if you use 80 minute CDs you should change all the
CD size from 730 to 790. ... mine WAS at 740 ??

so, I changed all CD Sizes of 740 to 790 and the only alternating value was the Max. Avg... in the user's guide it's specified @ 2130, but mine was @ 2230... could that have been the problem behind why my BIN/CUE was just that much too big to burn??

Anyway, I then changed the Max. Avg to 2130 and ripped again.. I started completely over... now, with the changed values, I have these BIN/CUE files which are just barely too big to burn...

so, in the track list using Fire Burner, I tried deleting Track 1 and only burning the 79 Min and 36 Second Track (because it still fit on the disc), but apparently that's a no-no, and I guess Track 1 is there for a reason! (duh!)

otherwise, what am I doing wrong?... how come I can't burn these
BIN/CUE files, while I could fine before? It has something to do with the size, so how do I ensure it will fit on my 700MB/80MIN CD-Rs?

Completely forgot there is a bug in this version. I recomend either getting the full release or going back to the last version you have until the next release is made. That is a BETA after all.

807 is a perfectly fine size to fit on an 800 minutes CD-R disk.

Read the Newbie FAQ and the Q + A the info is in there.

Fireburner has been removed from the recomended list because it has many problems buring SVCD disks.
Many people have issues with Nero.
Try VCDeasy.

If you need to you can edit the .d2s file and replace the size of the mpg(should be like 795 or so) with a number 1 or 2 lower. Then use crash recovery and set it at Mux and Cut and hit go.
Then from now on if you have this problem change the number from 790 to 788 or 789.

thank you so much... maybe i will just downgrade to the last full like you mentioned... anyway, this is what i did to solve my problem...
i actually just cut off the last 200MB of the last VOB file... I split it, and put it back together (omitting just a few credits)...

now the final BIN/CUE comes out @ like 795... it's not the best workaround, but so far so good...i'll just downgrade and let dvd2svcd do the work for me! LoL

Mike

thanks though

Link in the Newbie FAQ.
If you haven't read it and the Q + A I strongly reccomend you do.
Spending 10 minutes there can save you hours later.

VCD easy is free you will be using CDRDAO there is a guide.
My favorite is CDRWIN, but it's commercial and known to burn coasters with bad serial numbers.
