View Full Version : H.264 File - Playback problem (CoreAVC vs. VLC)

I want to play a 720p-File (H.264) in Media Player Classic Homecinema with CoreAVC (1.9.5), but there are many distortions in the video.
When I play the same file in VLC, it plays just fine.

Below you find screenshots from two different scenes to illustrate the problem:

What is wrong?
I never saw this problem on any other video.

Is there any way to solve this?
I really don't like VLC at all, so I want to avoid using it if possible.

try ffdshow or CoreAVC w/ CUDA enabled ;)

My graphics card does not support CUDA.

You can also try DivX H.264 decoder, which is part of the DivX 7 bundle.

Known bug with CoreAVC when the video has been encoded using the new weightp feature of x264 set to 2.
You can use ffdshow (no need of CUDA) or Divx7 H264 or MPC-HC decoders which are all working fine with these videos.

OK, thanks for this helpfull comment.

I'm not going to install any other software for just one movie, instead I'm going to report this bug to the CoreAVC developers.

If this is a known bug (as you say), hopefully they'll fix it in one of the next versions of the codec, if enough customers complain about it.

By the way - where did you find a copy of Inglorious Basterds considering it hasn't been released on DVD or Blu-Ray yet?

np: Speedy J - Reenter (Loudboxer)

Of course they know, as I already said.

I don't want to complain to inform them about this issue, I want them to notice that their customers are annoyed by this problem.

If more customers complain it'll be fixed sooner.
