View Full Version : Cropping yv12 interlaced video - would warnings/errors be a good idea?

I've just spent about half an hour trying to work out why cropping my interlaced YV12 video was ruining a subsequent separatefields (colours bleeding through from the other field), and I've finally realised it's because I was cropping by a non-multiple of 4 from the top/bottom.

Should crop() come with some warnings when someone attempts this sort of thing, or would there be too many false positives?

And does anyone else think the invention of interlaced video wasn't worth it after all? ;)

The warnings are here:
http://avisynth.org/mediawiki/Crop#Crop_restrictions

Avisynth doesn't know if a clip is interlaced, so cannot enforce the restriction. And it has no facility to produce warnings either.
