View Full Version : Audio encoding problem in EVERY format

Hi everyone,
I've been trying to encode the audio of several video files with no luck. NONE of my videos with AAC audio will encode no matter what i try. I tried every single codec, every single possible option and the result is either static (ogg), no audio (nero AAC), or super fast audio (all the others).
I tried encoding an MP3 and that worked fine. It seems that there is sometihng wrong with megui when it's decoding the AAC files... any ideas?
EDIT:
Apparently videos with 96kHz audio work fine, 48kHz seems to be the one that pisses me off. >:(

Do you have an MP4 splitter installed? Are you forcing DirectShowSource?

i've got CCCP installed and i tried forcing through DSS, same result.

CCCP doesn't tell me anything; you need to know what your system actually does. Do you have a standalone MP4 splitter installed? Do you have ffdshow set to decode AAC? Can you play these MP4 files with at least audio OK in Windows Meda Player? (Bearing in mind that W7/WMP12 would make this test irrelevant). How and why did you create 96kHz AAC audio anyway?

In most cases it's good to post the MediaInfo (http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net)report. CCCP is a codec pack, does probably install Haali. Good dshow tool is GraphStudio, dropping the source file on it should build a graph, in most cases using Haali as splitter and ffdshow as decoder.

ok sorry :P I'll give you all the info i have:
1. I'm running windows 7. WMP12 plays everything just fine. I also have DivX Tech Preview installed to display MKV thumbnails (irrelevant?)
2. I do not have a standalone mp4 splitter installed. I'm just using a standard installed CCCP pack. But then again... my guess would be the Haali is a standalone mp4 splitter? If so, then yes... i'm using Haali that came with CCCP.
3. FFDshow decodes ALL my audio.
4. Sorry about this... mega blunder when i was correcting myself (which actually wasn't necessary...)
96k works fine, 48k pisses me off. I confused myself :P sorry.
So the 96k's work perfectly fine.
EDIT: Working on the mediainfo report...
I also want to add this. Don't know how relevant this is but my audio drivers are kinda awry. They tend to crash sometimes. I have ASIO4ALL installed for FL Studio and a sigmatel driver from Dell. Sometimes, my audio just drops out and i won't have audio for like 5 min until i shut everything down that might use audio. I have a feeling AIM is the cause (started to use aim 3 weeks ago).

How did you make the source files? I suspect they must be unusual in some way. 48kHz is nothing unusual; it should usually work. If you enabled MP4 support when installing Haali, then yes, it should work.

It's a short commercial in mkv format which i downloaded and want to encode to mp4 so i can stream on my site. I didn't create the source.
BTW how do i export something from mediainfo which is useful here. I'll keep looking but help is appreciated :)
EDIT: I disabled AAC decoding in ffdshow and tried encoding the audio again. Same results. Audio plays WAAY too fast.
