I have several Digital Copy videos (the ones from DVD 2 disc packages). The "get Info" function says the resolution is 853X360. When I play them in itunes, they open a window that is 853X360 and play fine. I can also copy them to my ipod touch 2G and play them fine.

I thought 640 was the max resolution for the touch, so all my manually converted videos are 640 X 480/360/etc. When I saw the resolution of tyhe digital copies, I tried manually creating a copy of an HD-DVD video that was 853X360. It opens in the same sized window as the digital copies. HOWEVER; it won't copy to the ipod, saying it is not a compatible format.

Using mediainfo (a codec application) the digital copies are reading as 640X360, not 853X360. However, they open in larger windows than the 640X360 videos I have made in the past. (They also appear to have better resolution than my 640X360, but lower than my 853X360 one)

Does anyone know how the digial copies are both 640X360 and 853X360 at the same time? and what is the REAL maximum resolution you can transfer to the touch?

Thanks in advance.

They are probably 640x360 but are flagged so that when played it is resized up to 853x360 to get proper AR. Run both your encode and the digital copy through something like GSpot and post the results.
