Hi everyone,

after a long time there is another update to the good old DivX 6 codec (Yay for VFW  ).

Version 6.9.1 seems to have a bug in the direct-show decoder part. Playin DivX files work fine but as soon as you fast-forward or jump forward it leads to a crash. And with crash i mean it just crashes EVERY Player that uses the DivX Decoder Filter (So their own DivX Player, VLC ect. work fine).

So if Digital56k still lurks around he should tell the developer guys that they screwed up :helpful:

Greets.

Hi crnagora,

I've seen a couple of reports of this and we've been looking into it with the help of some labs users. It seems to affect only some systems and others not at all. However, we have found a box where we can reproduce an issue that looks to be related and we're working on it.

When I use DivX in VirtualDub it still shows up as 6.8.5 even though the DivX update tool says I`m at 6.9.1

Is this normal or did something not fully update?

I did try completely uninstalling DivX and then reinstalling but it stays the same.

If anyone could confirm this for me. Sorry about going off topic a little. Didn't think this question was worth a new Thread and this one seemed quiet anyways. Thanks.

Im 99,9% sure that this is normal.

If you look at the codec date you'll see that the VFW Codec is dated aug. 2009. So its definatly newer then the last 6.8.5 codec.

I got 6.8.5 there too, but the Decoder shows up as 6.9.1.
