View Full Version : Is this worth a purchase or upscale with Avisynth methods?

Came across this product that was released (just today I think) and it interests me. It upscales PSP 480p to 720p using proprietary "Motion Compensated 3D Wavelet Video Coding Technology" that improves picture quality with no screen jitter and tailing phenomenon.

I always like to try out new hardware, but is this worth a purchase to see what it can do? Or might I get same if not better results using software based upscale? Might this device just be a simple "zoom" of the native image?

Sorry but those are marketing images and are HIGHLY misleading. I'm willing to bet that if you actually tried it out, it would look no where near like that.

That's creating a level of detail that's more or less impossible to obtain from a low resolution source.

By low resolution do you mean the overall size of pixels? The PSP native resolution is 480x272p and it sounds like this product upscales to full 1280x720p, which is a lot of pixels to create/makeup for.

They really should put this (http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/3808/ninfeacd0.jpg) picture to their page too! To show true potential of their scaler :)
