--Tune SSIM is creating files that are half in size (!) as the same movie coded with --Tune Film and with the same CRF.

The SSIM and PSNR values are very close:

--TUNE FILM SSIM: 0.9842
--TUNE SSIM SSIM: 0.9825

--TUNE FILM PSNR: 46.855
--TUNE SSIM PSNR: 46.29

--TUNE FILM Size: 100%
--TUNE SSIM Size: 48.27%

Does this means that --tune ssim is more efficient than --tune film.

Why or why not should one use the --tune ssim setting for encoding movies?

:thanks:

--tune ssim/psnr should never be used for any serious encoding, and solely exist to optimize for SSIM and PSNR, respectively.

They perform optimizations that may be visually very bad.
