Hi. I am having a bad time ripping Blade. I have forced film in dvd2avi set to automatic. When I look at the vobs with dvd2avi, it shows a frame rate of 29.97, and is flickering between film and ntsc.
The movie appears to be interlaced but I am not sure.

When dvd2svcd gets to video encoding, CCE encodes the change and title files OK, but instantly pukes on the avisynth file, freezing my machine so that even control alt delete wont help.

I have used the program with great results on 2 dvds and two of my nandub avis. I love the program so I hope I dont sound like I'm bitching too much.

I have a whole bunch of nandub divx with lame vbr soundtracks. I'm not a total newbie but I think I remember that the framerate was always 23.976 when I was using force film.

Is this why cce freezes? Do I have to use IVTC and be slower than hell?

Hi. I have now tried this with forced film on and off. The avisynth file plays fine in bsplayer. CCE still works fine with avi2svcd.

It just crashes on the avisynth file.

Can anyone help?

Well if your system is hard crashing because your trying 2 encode a movie sounds 2 me like a you have some type of hardware failure.

Maybe check your ram settings or if your overclocking slow it down a bit. Umm most cce crashes wont crash your whole system so if that happens thats not normal unless you are having some type of hardware problem. WOuld help tho more if you give us your total specs ...motherboard type, chip type, operation system version of dvd2avi your using what settings your using in that ect also what lines your putting in avisynth and cce all this information would help i'm sure.

Hi, thanks for your response.

I am running 98se with dvd2svcd 1.o6 I have successfully converted 2 avi with this. I was able to make 2 svcds with the 1.05 build from dvd.

I am running a p3 733/133 with the 815 chipset 128 meg ram soon to increase to 256. I had no hangs or freezes prior to now. 3 pass VBR with all other settings default. No subs. CCE (stand alone) zips through the title picture and change cd, then flatly pukes on the avisynth file.

The avisynth file plays perfectly in BSplayer. Have ripped with vstrip, internal, and smartripper.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled 1.06 to 1.05 same fault with both versions.

I am going to load up another avi right now and see what happens. If CCE works well again then it makes me wonder about the avisynth dll but the blasted thing worked great before. Is the dll for 1.05 and 1.06 different?

Anyway, I am going to fire up another avi right now and get back to you.

Thanks again for your help.

Can you give me the lines you put in the avisynth script file?
and are you doing the audio with cce also?

Hello again. I made no alterations to the avisynth script and yes, the audio was done by dvd2svcd.

After running memtest and finding no flaw, I went ahead and re-installed Windows 98. Working perfect again. :p

FWIW and I am no expert, I believe I can trace the problem to either a helium 2 or shuffle play install. One of these programs ( I will look into it more if you think it relevant) required the download and install of something called MDAC. It was the only thing I had put in that required a reboot.

I am pretty sure this was it but I am more newbish than anything else. I mention it only because of the possible clue it may give to other people's crashes.

Anyway, thanks for your interest and suggestions.
