Hello all! I've been waiting 5 days so I could post here, and I'm excited I can finally. I've been backing up my DVD collection using a combination of:

DVD Decrypter
DVD Shrink
TMPGenc v. 3.0
Soundforge v.10 (getting rid of 'his' from my older dvd's)

My question is...Is there a way I can filter out the swearing from my dvd's to make some of my movies a little more friendly? I can do it with Soundforge and TMPGenc, but it's tedious to pan through the audio and cut the swear out manually. Is there some sort of plugin or something that will analyze the audio streams and automatically cut the swearing?

Lastly, is my setup for backing up movies ok, or should I look into some other software?

Thanks, and looking forward to being apart of this forum.:thanks:

Dude, you're basically talking about artificial intelligence.
A software capable of recognizing the nature of speech and its patterns in all of their variations AND to interpret the context and meaning of what's being said (so that it won't bleep out the word "ass" when talking about a donkey, for example).
I'm afraid that manual labor is your only choice. No such advanced plugin exists.
Besides, I don't want my computer to gain consciousness :)

And about your setup, you just listed the software used, but not the way your using it.
What's that about hiss on your older DVD's? Older as in "old movies" or older as in "DVDs bought several years ago".

I appologize, from old movies I'm putting on dvd. I got a Hauppauge WinTV PVR500 capture card I capture video from using my vcr.

Remember the TV Guardian, it scanned the closed captions and edited the language based on the captions. I was curious if there is something similar to it, but software based.

Oh, hiss when capturing, yeah, that's a pain in the ass.

I have no knowledge of any "TV Guardianesque" program that could do what you need, maybe someone else might know such software.
