Does anyone know how to use alternate codecs in dvd2avi? In my version(1.84) it only lists about 7, including divX, which I don't like that much, whereas when I go to VirtualDub it lists about 20. Are the codecs "builit-in" to dvd2avi, or does the program look for them somewhere in windows? And if so, then where? It would be cool to avoid the whole VFAPI process and encode the VOBs straight into a format that I'm happy with (thereby also avoiding the VirtualDub step).

The codec I want to use, by the way, is called vp3, made by a company called On2 (free download at [http://www.on2.com/vp3_opensource.php3] -- the file sizes are more or less the same as DivX, but to my eyes they look a lot better.

you can try switching to rgb colorspace. some codecs doesnt support yuv colorspace and are not listed when yuv is enabled.
