How to pronounce "Demux"

Yeah, this isn't really a technical question but it's been bugging me for about three years. I've read this word thousands of times and I still don't really know how to pronounce it.

My guess is "de mews", as it looks French.

Since it's an abbreviation for "demultiplex," it's probably pronounced "de-mucks"
