I would like to know if the next thing is possible with MPC-HC and Haali Media Splitter:

I use a lot of different .mkv files. Most of the files contain burned-in subtitles. I have set a priority for these subtitles since this is possible with Haali: in the Options/Languages there is a submenu called Subtitle language priority. Mine is set to dut, eng. This means that Haali 'looks' for Dutch burned-in subtitles when the movie starts running. If there are not found Dutch subtitles Haali looks for English subtitles and displays them. This all worked correcly untill I start using other .mkvs. These .mkvs contain ONLY burned-in English subtitles. So I ve downloaded a Dutch .srt file and named this moviename.srt. Now when my media starts running standard the Englsih subtitles are shown. When I want to display the separate added .srt subtitles I can right-click in MPC-HC and select these subtitles. But I wonder if it is also possible that MPC aut. loads this .srtt file. I already enabled auto-load subtitles but noticed that this option is (I think!) for the burned-in subtitles of the .mkv and not for the separte added .srt

Hope you guys understand what I want.

So in a nutshell:

1. MPC needs to look for a .srt in the folder and load this file aut.
2. If none is found Haali Media Splitter looks for Dutch burned-in subtitles and if these cannot be found for English
(option2 already works!)

Cheers and sorry for my bad English

The correct terminology is "embedded" subtitles. Burned-in subs are part of the video (and can thus not be disabled).

DirectVobSub will load both embedded and external subs. MPC internal skips external ones when there is an embedded sub (which is a bug).

The priority list of Haali only applies to the embedded subs. What you want is not possible with the currently available tools.

I just remux and put the srt in with MKVtoolnix if I have that kind of problem. It's an easy operation.

thxz for your reply.

Thats pitty it s not going to work :(

Isnt there an option that I can get a button on my keyboard switch to this .srt file?
The problem is that I load my movies in full-screen d3d (remove tearing option). In this option I cannot right-click and see the menu.....

MPC has keyboard shortcuts for next/previous subtitle. Next = S, Previous = Shift + S.

My statement that external subs are not always being loaded by MPC was incorrect. I just tested it and it works fine. Whoever reported that bug did something wrong.

Your initial statement was correct with the amendment that is happening ONLY for m2ts and ts container (bug in MPC-HC's mpeg splitter ?) Every time you'll need to hit "Reload" for the subtitles to load and it doesn't matter if there is or not any embedded sub

P.S. It's there any keyboard shortcut for that ("Reload") too?

Thanks for the info.

You can see all keyboard shortcuts in Options -> Player -> Keys. I didn't see one for reloading subs.

The bug is then probably related to the changes that were made to support subtitles from Bluray rips.

Can you add a shortcut for "Reload" ( I can't find one either ) cause it's really really necessary when using D3D ? Please !

EDIT : Solved ! It seems that ON / Off Subtitle shortcut = W also works ! But you need to hit it twice turn off then on again !
