I want to back up DVD 7 from the third season of the X-Files (seasons 1 and 2 coming in next week). This DVD has deleted scenes and commentaries from the writers and directors. Choosing the right IFO is no problem, however it has dozens of "episodes" listed in the "movie length" pull down window. I can do this one at a time, but it is very time consuming.
Is there any way to do the lot in one pass? Maybe editing the IFO? Any guides or how to's you recommend?
Thank you.

As far as I know ripping each section individually is the only way.
If you wanted to do everything as one encode you might be able to use Smartripper or the internal routines to Rip each of the angles and then name the VOB files the same raising each one a number higher. Then load the IFO file into DVD2SVCD and pipe it through the internal ripper and it should do it all in one encode.
You might be able to do it in SmartRipper file mode and basically copy the VOB's onto the hard drive through smartripper. You would have to know what VOB's to copy and pray that there is nothing else in them other than what you want.
Possible problems include SmartRipper or the internal routines might try and name each of the seperate rips the same. In this case rip each into a different directory and then change the name like I said above and copy them all into the same directory after you are done.
You most likely will not have everything as neat as you would like. meaning a CD change could happen at any point during a video.
There are ways to do it, but they all take work.
Just so you know DVD2SVCD only uses the IFO to try and get a little info including if it's PAL or NTSC, but really doesn't use much of that info in the encode. You could use almost any IFO file as long as the video is the same type.

markrb, thanks. I figured that was the way to go but I hoped for a quicker/dirtier way.
Since I don't know squat about this business I got alarmed when I analyzed the largest IFO on the Movie Length drop down. It had literally dozens of small "episodes", some as short as 00:13 and 00:23. I was afraid I would have to drill down each and every one of those ripping them individually and then join them manually by renaming the VOBs. That's what I wanted to avoid at all costs!!!
Fortunately I kept on digging. There were four larger "episodes" interspersed there (20:17, 13:16, 09:27 and 08:24 in length) and when I selected the first one I checked that it contained several chapters that matched in length a bunch of the original smaller "episodes". So there were in actuality only four "episodes" and all the others were only the chapters contained within them.
I used internal routines to rip the four "episodes" individually, then I loaded IFOs 2 and 3 that also contained material I wanted. I ended joining up 9 VOBs and I'm processing them right now. We'll see...
Thanks again.
