Hello everyone,
We have created a poll to get a better idea of the most use file loading option.
We will use the information gained by this poll in future developement of the file open options/menu's.
Unless the option used explicitly requires MPC-HC to be running already, all voting options are valid for:
1. Running application
2. (shortcut to the) exe file on the hdd with and without the application running
Finally please post to explain why you use the option you voted for
Thanks!

I doubleclick from explorer almost exclusively.
I do this because i have a nice structure for the media on the hdd and i get the files faster than through any other method. Unlike mpc-hc, the media folder is usally already open.
I do not need any of the other options because my media files have dubs and subtitles either muxed in or same name/same directory(auto loaded)

Double click
+ SendTo for rare formats (I don't like having too many file extensions around).
Of course, Ctrl+O if I need external audio. :o

Drag & drop onto one of two seperate desktop shortcuts.
I am using two seperate installations of mpc-hc with different .ini files. The first one is configured for windowed playback on my first ( PC ) monitor, the second one is configured for fullscreen D3D playback on my second ( HDTV ) monitor.

Double click in explorer as I have most file associations set to the 64-bit version of MPC-HC.
Drag/drop on the 32-bit version when I'm dealing with avs files.

Double click in explorer because I associated them with MPC-HC x64. Drag and drop for madVR (x86).
Most of my files also have subtitle muxed in and the same name (autoload), but it would be nice if I can drag and drop a subtitle file while a movie is playing.

Personally I use an external program that I have created in VB6 in order to set up some others parameters like screen refresh setting, downscale in ffdshow audio or not,... and also the file for MPC-HC and optionally the sub. And so I use the command line. But I have two issue with the command line in MPC :
- the command "/dvd" do not work with Blu-ray disc. This is not consistent with the menu "Open DVD" in the interface of MPC-HC because it open the main m2ts file on the disk but no the command line which give just an error message(No DVD found or something like that).
- the command line "/sub" do not work correctly with Blu-ray (and maybe DVD also but I not tested). When the file is playing, I can see in the Subtitle menu of MPC-HC the sub file selected but it not appears on the screen. I have to click on the sub name again in the menu "Subtitle" to make it appears correctly. No such issue with Mkv and so on.

I voted "command line argument" because my HTTP front-end (Meedio/meediOS) launches MPC-HC using a command line when you select (single click or "Play" button) a movie/TV Show from its UI. Not sure if this is the same as what you wanted from option 1. I assumed not as it is not using Windows file association to find the player.

Doubleclick on media file (usually I open a program(like Word or Paint) to create or edit a file, doesn't apply to media player though) and SendTo (when I want to play wmv, mp3 or other formats on mpc-hc).

You voted correctly :)I'm not sure if some others may have voted option 1 in this situation because of the ref to "movie browser". ?

I'd call that "Commandline argument from external program [Explorer.exe]"...
For me, it's usually a link in Explorer with some command line options to automatically open MPC-HC on my projector and play the DVD in my DVD drive.
Of course, I've got a different install of MPC-HC also associated with most video file formats, for watching stuff like samples posted here, and I'm often using mediaplayerconnectivity in Firefox to open videos in MPC-HC as an external player...
np: Gotye - Heart's A Mess (Supermayer Mix) (Various - Kompakt Total 10 (Disc 2))

In testing, I use "Open File", "Open DVD", double-click in explorer and sometimes drag and drop to an open MPC-HC window. But these are the exception.

Double click.
Lately, MPC-HC started to freeze on me on the rare occasions I drag files to it. (1.2.908)
I'd also probably use more the playlist feature is it wasn't so rudimentary (and would be great if there was option to add "Enque to MPC HC playlist" in right click) and a feature to create shader packs and have them in the shaders menu would also be great.
For example, a means to have Deinterlace (blend) + 16-235->0-235 as an entry and easy switch to only 16-235->0-235 when desired. If I switch now to only 16-235->0-235, next time I have to use Combine shaders again and do several clicks which is annoying.

1.) from explorer (from TC), and its enter not click
2.) drag-n-drop for rare formats (avs), and for the playlist sub-window (for multiple files)

99% of the time doubleclick
Sometimes drag & drop into second instance if I want multiple files open "don't want the open a new player... settings)
For DVD's File > Open DVD - This used to be MUCH better with a submenu that had each drive. Now it gives a browser that doesn't have focus.

I think I m a lazy fellow... I have [My Computer] as a toolbar in the Taskbar and browse through there with a single click on my movies, so which do I vote for? As for multiple files, I use quick op or open file dialogue. Thanks.

I almost always drag and drop onto either an icon on my taskbar or the program itself.

I double click on the file in explorer most of the time, or i will open MPC and drag a playlist over if there's multiple items (ie an entire season).
