Anyone please help me with easy guide (no command line) to encode (x264) a video using mkv container. Please recommend any GUI (e.g MeGUI, Staxrip and the like) that can do this task for me. (forgive me for my English)

:thanks:

Thanks for the reply mate. But actually I already read that before I open the thread, because I can't seem to find any guide that simple enough for me to understand (tried Handbrake but doesn't seem to even encode at all). I thank you anyway.

Anyone please help.

The available material is too difficult for you?

So what are you asking for? Somebody to make a For Dummies version for you?

You just earned yourself a move to the Newbies forum.

Something like beginner guidance will do.

Thanks. I should have open the thread in this section in the first place. My bad.

It's like asking for the beginners guide to quantum physics. There isn't one. You have to know all about vector spaces, linear operators, etc.

You could start by trying some of the things that were linked and then posting when you run into a specific problem or something that is not clear to you. Otherwise we have no idea where to start. Do you know how to add? OK. Do you know what a field is? OK. Etc. Just start doing something!

And your title mentions VFR but your post doesn't. So you also need to start with a precise statement of your goal.

Hi!

In addition to all of the "good stuff" suggested by moderator "neuron2", you might want to look into the available information regarding a multitude of such GUIs at the Doom9 sub-forum devoted to them at:

Thanks for the advice. I will get the right GUI first and then post related question when I'm stuck at any particular stage.

Thanks mate,

Will try to look for the right GUI over there. According to some (beginner like me), Handbrake suppose to be able to do the job but it somehow won't work. Thanks again.

it somehow won't work And we are supposed to guess what that "somehow" is? You have to be precise in your problem statements. What did you do and what was the exact result that you thought deviated from what was right?

Thanks for the reply. Let me ask around for the right GUI and make sure I get the right GUI first and when I stumble at anything, I will get back here and ask specific question.

I know MeGUI doesn't default to allowing VFR encoding or muxing: you can use it as a front-end for an analysis pass with TFM, for instance, and use it to feed the requisite AVS script to x264, but there's no built-in extra VFR support that I'm aware of. I'm not sure about the other GUIs.

I will look into it. Thanks mate. (even though I'm not quite sure where to start)

Thanks for all the respond I received in this thread. I have finally managed to achieve my goal with HandBrake. Thanks also to the developers of HandBrake.

For those who wanted to try it out, its works simply by enabling the detelecine option. As simple as that. To other newbies (like me), I you still don't understand on how to use it, feel free to ask me in this thread. I will be glad to answer your questions.

I'll have to look into it further, although I'm pretty sure this feature will probably wait until 3.0.
