View Full Version : Is there a simple way? NTSC to PAL conversion?

I have a few very old movieclips from old digital cameras captured in 30fps, however I'd like to have them in 25fps instead (I'd like to burn them to a PAL-DVD later).
Is there a way of doing this with good result? Nero Vision can save a NTSC movie as PAL but it doesn't look very good.
Are there any other clever ways of doing this without being a professional? :-)
I've tried googling but haven't found anything usefull...

The only way to convert NTSC (not film in NTSC) is to completely and totally destroy the content by blending the crap out of it. Don't do it. Buy an NTSC-compliant display. They should be quite cheap.

You can convert NTSC to PAL without too much trouble.

However, by doing so you make doing any further processing very difficult. The lesson here is to keep your NTSC masters if you ever want to work with this video again, after converting it to PAL.

AviSynth is a very useful tool for doing things like this. Can you send us a sample of your video?

I noticed Nero Vision 9 had some options that made this possible and it looked very good (in my, more or less, newbie-eyes :)).

Quality is a matter of personal experience. Probably this is one of the reasons why doom9 has Rule 12.

If you're happy with Nero Vision 9 just use it. There are also threads here, some are really old, since people moved on ;)
