Hey folks. Thought I'd come out of my near eternal slumber to enquire about something that's been bugging me lately. I don't even know if this is the right section to post about it, so feel free to move the thread if I've targeted the wrong part of the forum.
Basically, I'm trying to research on the most ideal, user-friendly, non-complicated program for converting FLV videos to an MPEG4 format compatible with my iPod Classic. Obviously I'm only interested in freeware stuff (you won't believe how many commercial/trialware sites abuse the word "free" in the hope of becoming the top results in a Google search). Now, common problems I find with these various programs include:
* Not providing any or enough presets.
* Expecting you to type all your ffmpeg options into the boxes, rather than selecting them out of a pre-defined menu.
* Including something called OpenCandy, a little something relating to open-source projects which many people consider spy/adware (I researched on it before installing the programs in question).
* Being overly bloated in general.
* Not allowing a choice between X264/H.264 or traditional MPEG4 format.
Am I just being too fussy here? Probably. But it seems really difficult to find a nice tool which doesn't fob you off with miniscule/useless options and/or which doesn't install extra crap you don't want or need. Any/all suggestions duly appreciated, thank you. :)
