View Full Version : More than one video clip in MKV container?

I'm trying to generate a MKV backup of one of my movies (Bolt, R2). It comes with the main movie and an additional 5 min bonus clip (title set #76). My goal was to put both videos into one MKV container that plays them in sequence.
I started to create MKV files for both parts (each with video and 2 audio tracks) using Handbrake. Both parts playback fine. But I fail to merge both mkvs into one single file with MkvMerge v2.9.8:
Error message:
Error: The track number 2 from the file 'D:\DVD\Bolt76.mkv'
cannot be appended to the track number 2 from the file
'D:\DVD\Bolt.mkv'. The formats do not match.

Any idea/different tool to do the trick?

You're using append, which is to join 2 videos.

You press add instead.

This is the WRONG forum anyway.

Sorry for posting incorrectly; thread has been moved meanwhile.

btw. "Add" doesn't work either - mmg doesn't complain but the resulting video doesn't work: it looks as if both clips are shown simultaneously...

Stop using VLC and get a player that supports multiple video tracks properly.

I never used VLC - I'm using MPC-HC (PC) and WD-TV (stand-alone). Have you got any recommendation for a better player?

Internal Mpc matroska splitter does not work with 2 video streams. Use Haali.

For compatability reasons it is probably better to have a separate file for each video. Alternatively you could have one video file and then use chapters so you can easily skip to the extras.
