When I play any video on various video players (MPC, VLC, Zoom, etc.) it looks perfect in its native resolution in a window. As soon as I go to fullscreen, it's blocky and looks horrible. Even 720p content looks bad on my 1920x1200 monitor. If a game looked like that, I'd have to turn on antialiasing to fix it.
I guess it means that these programs are failing to upscale properly? Is that the right terminology?
GOM player works fine. I tried madVR and that works fine, but it crashes a lot.
I'd really like to get my other video players to work properly. Can someone give me some pointers on how to fix my problem? Thanks!
Most of it is xvid or h.264. Downloaded from somewhere (Somewhere could mean anywhere. It doesn't automatically mean illegal. There are thousands of legal sites on the web. For example, the Guild Wars 2 trailer from guildwars2.com.) or stuff I ripped from dvd's using one of many encoders I've tried over the past few years.
I think the problem started when I changed to Windows 7.
