14:45:09: WARNING: Difference: 93151
14:45:09: Correcting Bitrate...
14:45:09: Original Bitrate = 1571 k(=1000)Bits/s
14:45:09: ERROR: Correction impossible.
14:45:09: Now encoding at 1571 k(=1000)Bits/s

Can anyone tell me what's the problem now?

and I will do no dbl-posts ;)

first off thanks for attaching the log.. makes it much easier to locate problems. Now, didn't the duration of the first pass bother you? As you can see it's 0 seconds. I know of no computer that could encode movie with more than 90'000 frames in 0 seconds... I really wished I'd have one of these but I'm afraid it will not be possible for many years if not decades. By know you probably know where I'm getting at ;) VirtualDub must have crashed before encoding a single frame, then gknot couldn't open the log because there was non (probably a 0 byte sized file), and as it couldn't find out the number of frames it assumed there were 0, then you want a certain size for 0 frames, which is pretty much impossible to reach (no frames = size 0) hence the bitrate calculation errors..

can you try to load said avs file in virtualdub, select the divx4 codec in 2 pass, first pass mode and start encoding to see if it also crashes? if you use w2k/xp you can also check the system log in the administration tools.. it should tell you when an application has crashed (normally an application error would be in the log.. I just had a vdub crash and it was noted in the log.. you're looking for an application error at the time the first pass was started).

yes, u're right!

i have seen a VDub crash! VDub tells it to me ;)

so, the problem is VDub? What can I do against it? Download another version of it?

actually.. I don't think virtualdub is the problem.. it hardly ever crashes.. more likely the codec is the problem.. have you tried to do what I said in my earlier post? if you do and you get a crash post the virtualdub crashlog here.. maybe we can figure out exactly what the problem is.

well, i've reinstalled everything and now it's working again ! puh ;)

Maybe the was a problem with the codecs, really

but big thx for ur help doom9!
