i have leadtek winfast pvr2000 tv card, and i'd like to ask you a few questions about capturing.

1.) when i capture (or watch) with winfastpvr2, leadtek's software, the quality of the picture is pretty okay when the picture is still, but when some movement comes, it's horrible, there is a lot of blur and ghosting. i am sure that card itself
is capable of showing and capturing much better video, since it can do it with dscaler. the reason why i don't use
dscaler is that it's unstable, crashes a lot, and it can't display some channels, even if i enter their frequency manually.

so, is there any software for viewing/capturing analog signal which has a quality of dscaler?

2.) i tried to capture with virtualdub, but when i go to capture video, there is no preview, and i can't start capture. any suggestions?

3.) i capture my videos in mpeg format and i have a lot of troubles converting it to avi (tried with tmpgenc, total video converter, alltoavi and pocket divx encoder). the quality loss is really notable and the size is pretty big. i couldn't convert them with virtualdub; the output video shows just black screen.

1. burn your mpegs directly to a DVDRW and check them on a regular TV, then assess their quality - unless you want to watch them purely/mainly on PC or handheld devices

2. no suggestions

3. why would do someone such things (MPEG->AVI)? Isn't it your capture card MPEG-4 hardware compliant? And how can you convert to AVI with TMPGenc? I know that AVI is a container that can hold MPEG streams, but I think you want to use other codecs...
