View Full Version : Windows Interface for VC-1 to anything conversion...

I read the entire thread for VC-1 conversion to just about anything else....

Yet.... All of that is like way to much PIA. Isn't there a simple quick easy to use Windows interface?

(I realize quick is a relative term as it can take a while for the computer to process the video) By quick I mean, quick and easy to get the process going. Example... choose the vc-1 file to convert. Click a box to choose what to covert it too. click the location & type a name to give the new file, & click on a button to "Go" or "Process".

Anyone come up with a program like that?

I easily rip my DVD's to play on my Xbox, TiVo-HD/S3, etc... using one windows program. Anything like that yet for Blu-rays?

Currently I am using EAC3TO and TSMuxer when my Blu-ray rips are in H264, or MPG2. Yet I have issues with the VC-1 video codec as the TiVo doesn't support VC-1. My Xbox does, but the TiVo doesn't. Therefore my need to convert the VC-1 file to H264 or MPG2.

Thanks

WTC

P.S. Currently I am using Windows Vista Ultimate, 64bit, 12gb Ram, 300gb Raptor drive used for the video processing, with a LG Blu-ray writer. AnyDVD to Rip the Blu-ray. I have TSmuxer & EAC3to. I also have the Blu-ray version of Cyberlinks software that came with the LG Blu-ray drive.

Any of the MPEG-4 encoder GUIs, once you're using the proper decoder and Avisynth script.

And what would be the proper avisynth script?

Hi!Try "BD Rebuilder"...

Doesn't BD REbuilder "Shrink" the file and reduce the bit rate? I still want to maintain the full bit rate. I don't want to lose quality. Other than what might be lost becasue of the conversion factor.

Thanks

It uses x264 for compression - and if you try it (as many others at Doom9 already have), you'll discover that the files created will be visually indistinguishable from the originals...

Here's one member's comment:

An alternative that also uses x264 is multiAVCHD (Don't be misled by the name).

Just a thought, but you could have tsMuxeR convert the VC-1 to a TS file, if your TIVO can play that format, and you will not be reencoding from the original.

After downloading and playing around with BDrebuilder it does not work. Or I haven't figured out how to do it right.

I had my blu-ray ripped using AnyDVD to a blu-ray folder.
BDRebuilder read that blu-ray folder without a problem.

It created a new blu-ray folder with the movie only.

The ORIGINAL M2TS contained the following.

A VC-1 Video track
a AC3 2 channel audio track
a DTS-HD 7.1 audio track
and 2 subtitle tracks.

The newly created M2TS file that it created in the new folder. Which now only contains 1 (ONE) m2ts file. The movie file.

That m2ts file contains the following tracks

A VC-1 Video track
a downcoverted 5.1 DD audio track. (Downcoverted from the DTS-HD 7.1)
and 1 subtitle track. (The english subtitle).

What I am TRYING to do, is CONVERT that VC-1 VIDEO track into a MPG2 or a H.264/AVC video track.

All the program looked like it did was:

Demux the original blu-ray disk
Re-muxed the tracks I wanted
then recreate a Blu-ray structure in a folder that contained just the video, audio. subtitle tracks that I wanted.

It didn't really convert anything other than the audio track.

Any more ideas?

Thanks

VC-1 is a compression video file. TS is a container file.

All Tmuxer does is PUT that VC-1 file into a TS file. The compression format of the video files remains the same.

Video files on a Blu-ray disk are in container files called M2TS.

The video compression for blu-rays is either MPG2, VC-1, or H.264.

Just like the audio compression can be DD-THD or DTS-HD.

Tmuxer can demux the tracks in a M2TS file and remux them back into a M2ts file or just a plain TS file. Tsmuxer doesn't do any any converting of video file formats.

Are there any PROFFESIONAL level commercial programs for sale that will do this? I don't mind spending a grand on a good program that can do this.

What do the proffesionals in Hollywood use?

@WildTexasChefOr I haven't figured out how to do it right. That m2ts file contains the following tracks
A VC-1 Video trackSure sounds like you either haven't figured out how to do it right, or you're misinterpreting the format of the videostream in the re-encoded .M2TS file. If you didn't go out of your way to mistakenly set it for NOT re-encoding the video, it should have been AVC/264...

You might want to carefully re-check (and make certain you understand) the settings you used.

Ok... In BD REbuilder this is how I have the settings set.

Under:

"Encoder" I have selected x264 encoder

"Encoder settings" Idle priority and Highest (Very slow)

"Options" Target Size BD-25

Then under the "Setup" window I have the following options set.

"Audio languages to Keep" - English

"Subtitle Languages to keep" - English

Limit to one track for each language is checked for audio

Limit to one track for each language is checked for subtitles

General Encoding options are:

Stickter AVCHD compliance for movie only checked
Remove Workfiles after rebuild checked

All other items are UNCHECKED. The only other options are:
REszie 1080p to 720p
Color Boost
DO not convert DTS to AC3
Do not reencode AC3
Use 448kbs for AC3
Keep HD audio for BD25 encoding

I checked the newly created file with several different player programs. They all read the video track as being VC-1.

What am I missing?

Thanks
