Which means you configured it that way. :p
Mine moves to the center on start/end of playback even if I'll move window during playback.
m-m-m. Is there any option to move window to the center for stop playing event? I know this option only on start playing.

it is not really obvious what settings needs to be turned on or off for that... somehow I did that but I'm too lazy to investigate right now. Try to play with all options on general and playback tabs.
Also not sure but skin may affect this behavior. It shouldn't really shift to the side in any case, new center of the window should be the same as old center after window was resized.

Is there "Cover flow" kind of file browsing function available for Potplayer?
(Something like KMPlayer's Album art skin logo)
Thanks in advance

Thx for the clarification. Skins don't affect the behavior. I think it is a bug. The key point to reproduce it have a monitor resolution <= (HD) movie resolution and have checked 100% actual size in player window size options.
P.S. in build [1.5.29996] the window is sticked to top left corner!!
from changelog we see
[Daum PotPlayer 1.5.30344 Beta *Some fixes while window resizing]
I suppose it is the other side of the same problem, the bug is reopened ;))

Fantastic app, thanks.
Any chance you could add a very small tweak. The option to NOT automatically play the next item in the playlist when the current item finishes.
Thanks heaps

What PotPlayer skins are you guys using?
Also when using MadVR how do I get the exclusive mode seekbar to appear? Works with MPC-HC, but PotPlayer just keeps bringing up it's on controls.

personally I don't care because I know how to control that but... why would anyone ever want to use something other than YV12 (or NV12) is a mystery.

yep, the YUY2 default is a big mystery...everyone should stay away from the internal decoders.
BTW, is there any way to open password protected RAR files? I guess not?

Hi,
Just trying out PotPlayer for the first time and have run into an issue with embedded subtitles. Using MadVR, every time a sub is displayed it breaks out of exclusive mode and into windowed mode, and then back into exclusive mode when the sub has disappeared. Pretty annoying.
Is there any way to have subs AND fullscreen exclusive like with MPC-HC?

Using YUY2 for NVIDIA cards is just stupid. They even have that sucky chroma upsampling with YUY2 -_-

Doesn't happen here. Maybe you can try to change the Subtitle Output option to Display on video (TV-OUT).

Would you be kind enough to let me know which boxes to tick / untick in the subtitles page in preferences?

Hi,
If I change to TV-Out the subtitles don't display at all.
That is odd. The Tv-out option renders subtitles on the picture itself regardless of the renderer, so if it doesn't show up then that means there's something wrong with the player itself. Try uninstalling it and clearing its installation folder then install it again. And make sure you're using the latest version of madVR.

No cure as far as I know. You can switch to overlay mode so that it wont switch between exclusive and windowed mode.

Are you using an external subtitle renderer? If yes, then maybe that's the problem.

when using Potplayer and Madshi on an Nvidia Optimus card, whether with Nvidia or Intel graphics, when I set the video to full screen and then back to Windowed mode again, Potplayer window turns black and freezes and only the video sound is heard. I have to disable it from task manager. Of course only if I enable Full screen exclusive mode. If not it works but with tearing in some videos
On MPC it works fine in exclusive mode.

anyone figure out how to fix the frame capture bug? Where it's 6 frames off? 2 frames off in madshi renderer...Again , yes it's paused so I know it's not bad timing. The image is 2 frames in the future of where I pause it. Latest beta update did not resolve this, so I'm wondering if there's a soft-fix someone might know of by now

I am having the same problem too, since a long time. Looks like nobody knows how to fix this.
It is high time that the developers should look into this issue and provide a fix.

My favorite part about this bug is that it existed in KMP for a from 07 to 08 but got fixed eventually. So I was surprised to see it came back. KMP does't play Hi10p files though >.<

I love this video player, but it would be a great feature, if it would play from rar like Bsplayer does.
Regards, Arpy
Actually you can play from rar files with RARFileSource (http://www.v12pwr.com/RARFileSource/). For some reason with the latest version (1.5.29996) throws an error before playback, but after some seconds it works as it should. Luckly I got an older version backup (1.5.25642), no errors with this one, works like a charm.

I have a DVD which, I am able to play using almost all software players I have (KM Player, Windows Media Player, VLC Player, Power DVD, Toshiba DVD Player, Windows Media Center), except PotPlayer. This DVD I am able to play using physical Sony DVD Player, too. But PP is not able to play it.
PP plays until the menu is displayed. That too, images of the menu items are not visible. If I click on the menu item nothing happens.
Is there any setting I need to change, to make PP play the DVD ?
Thanks in Advance,

Bitstreaming TrueHD
I'm having trouble bitsteaming TrueHD tracks (.m2ts file). No problem with DTS-MA ones. PP keeps using the built-in codec, even when LAV Audio or ffdshow is selected for AC3. I could have sworn this used to work, but that may have been before I switched from an HD-5450 to a GT-430. Is the card the problem?
On a side note, I'm able to bitstream TrueHD in MPC-HC with ffdshow.

Not sure about bitstreaming, but potplayer would never let LAV to decode truehd, but would always use the internal decoder.

What about ffdshow, then? Is there a setting I'm overlooking to get that as preferred? As I said, I thought I had this going once upon a time, but maybe I'm confusing things with MPC-HC.
EDIT: OK, got it sorted. But it's weird. If the AC3 codec is set to built-in and bitstreaming is selected for all formats, TrueHD is passed. If either LAV or ffdshow is set to AC3, PP defaults to the built-in, but doesn't use the bitstreaming settings, defaulting instead to PCM. Go figure.

You might try this: In Custom Filter Manager, click Add external filter, locate VSFilter.dll and Open, delete DirectVobSub (just keep auto-loading version), set priority of DirectVobSub (auto-loading version) to Prefer. Hope this help.

Dear Developers!
First of all, I wanna say a huge thank you for your hard work!
You are do a really good job. PotPlayer is my favourite video player software.
Unfortunatelly I noticed, PotPlayer cant play many videos which has MOV container. The PotPlayer can play only the audio track os video files.
The MOV video files have a following video codecs, which cant play the PotPlayer:
ap4h
apch (ProRes)
apcn (ProRes)
apcs
dvcp (DV)
dvhp (DVCPRO HD)
dvhq (DVCPRO HD)
hdv1
hdv6
hdv7
hdv8
IMX 50
XDCAM EX422
Please add these video codecs to PotPlayer to I can play all of MOV videos without using other video player softwares instead of PotPlayer! ;)
Thank you! :thanks:

Hi everyone!
I'm using PotPlayer for a while now. I had this problem with RARFileSource a few months ago (PotPlayer didn't open stored rar files as it should). Shortly after, I checked the latest version and noticed in the changelogs that it had been fixed. (Daum PotPlayer 1.5.29795 Beta: Fixed support of Rar files.) But now, in the latest "stable" version, I have the same problem.
I assume this is another bug (or should I say: the same bug as before...).
Does anybody have this problem or is it just me?
Btw, it can open some stored rar files properly, but not all of them.

Btw, it can open some stored rar files properly, but not all of them.
AFAIK , it does not distinguish the type of rars. It only depends on the size of rar and probably only works with a single rar. The purpose of the feature built in the player seems like for the archives of a single album of music, not a video. It can also play a single rar of video but limited to some extent.

But it worked in previous versions.
Just to get my problem straight:
- An old version which I used first opened ANY stored rar files with a video in it. (a few 100 MB to over 7-8 GB mkv files splitted and stored into several rar pieces)
- Later, I installed a newer version, and had this problem.
- Then I started to check every update, hoping the author will fix it sometime... and he did.
- And now, with the latest version, I have the same problem again.
I can install an older version of PotPlayer that doesn't have this bug, but I wan't to move foreward, not backward. :)

I wouldn´t worry about that, as far as I know it has never said stable. My guess is that a program that updates 4.0000000 times a year doesn´t really know when its stable...OR the word stable is something very rude in Korean.
That being said, am I the only one actually getting pissed off at too many updates? =) WTF get your crap straight and release a new version every month or something, its STILL way more often than any competition..

Usually the version is "stable" whan there is an x64 build. Beta are exclusive x86.

I've updated to the latest PotPlayer 1.5.31006Upd but I noticed the idx/sub subtitles can't be shown using Directvobsub (VSFilter 2.40.3884 x86). The idx/sub subtitles from Directvobsub was all this while appeared ok until version PotPlayer1.5.30579Upd.
Only after version PotPlayer1.5.30579Upd until now Directvobsub has problems.
Tried to contact cafe.daum.net, they provided a short reply, saying "DirectVobSub is only support YV12 input for subtitle".
Is there anything anyone could help to fix it?
Thanks.

I have been going thru this thread and find that a lot has been written about how PotPlayer treats - or doesn't treat - subtitles. Maybe I am missing something but I'm still confused on some issues.
1) MKV: do the subtitles have to have the same name as the movie (this is vexing as I am pretty sure that I could run subtitles with a different name before; but not any longer)
2) is there a way to make PotPlayer find subtitles that are in a subdirectory of the directory where the movie is in
3)Folder Settings (under 'Preferences, Subtitles'): is there a way to use generic directions in the folder paths (such as f.i. '*Subs')
Thanks much for your help!

1. In subtitles settings enable "If no subtitles read from subs folder". Works only if subs are in the same folder. If in another folder, must have the same name (up to the last dot - so "cool pron.avi" = "cool pron.Eng.srt")
During playback, under subs selection you will see whatever there is after last dot in file name. If there are no dots, whole file name will be displayed.
2. From settings you can't add relative paths, so do the following:
Under Subtitle-Folder settings add at least one folder (!)
Close PotPlayer (!), open Registry Editor and find the key:
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Daum\PotPlayerMini\CaptionFolderList
There will be some strings (default, 0, 1). "0" will have in its value the path you have just added and "1" will be empty. Double-click on "1" and write any relative path you want (e.g., \subs, \subtitles etc.). For every path you want to add, create new String Value and name it 2, 3, 4 and so on. It's not case sensitive, so \subs = \Subs
3. No way.

@SoBizarre -
I have now changed the registry as instructed; adding relative paths to the subfolders that store my subtitles (which always are within the parent directory where the movie resides). However, PotPlayer still won't load.
Here is what I can report:
1) the Folder Settings in Preferences only show the very first subdirectory which was put there according to your instructions; nothing else
2) the string #1 in the HKCU\SW\Daum\PotPlayerMini\CaptionFolderList key is always overwritten by PotPlayer and then stays empy. So the registry entry looks as follows:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Daum\PotPlayerMini\CaptionFolderList]
"0"="D:\\Storage\\Content\\Movies\\Classics\\Die Feuerzangenbowle\\Subs"
"1"=""
"2"="\\Subs"
"3"="\\Audio & Subs"
"4"="\\Subs & Pics"
What are your thoughts?

What are your thoughts?
1. Relative paths must have single slash (doesn't matter if these folders are on another computer).
2. If you have added the first path (absolute one) just for the sake of the procedure, now you can remove it.
3. There is always one string with no data, but it should be the least one. If there is no empty string, PotPlayer will create one, but if there is one empty string in wrong position, PotPlayer will use it, but will ignore all strings below the empty one.
Anyway, close(!!!) PotPlayer, start regedit and make the strings look like this:
"0"="\Subs"
"1"="\Audio & Subs"
"3"="\Subs & Pics"
"4"=""
Cheers,
SB
manni500
29th December 2011, 16:47
1) I know; what you see has been copied from the reg-file where Windows automatically puts 2 slashes
2) Done
3) when taking off the (absolute path) via Preferences, Folder Settings, PotPlayer erases the CaptionFolderList key in the registry altogether. If I leave it under Preferences, folder Settings and change things in the registry according to your instructions, then open PotPlayer and close it, here is what happens in the registry as a result :
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Daum\PotPlayerMini\CaptionFolderList]
"0"="D:\Storage\Content\Movies\Classics\Die Feuerzangenbowle\Subs"
"1"=""
"2"="\Subs"
"3"="\Audio & Subs"
"4"="\Subs & Pics"
"5"=""
Other things that look strange:
1) changing the settings in the registry then closing PotPlayer will make no changes in the registry. In order to get the changes entered, I need to export the presets to a reg-file, then enter via that file
2) no matter where I put the subtitles (even if directly in the parent directory together with the movie), PotPlayer does not load them unless they have the exact same name as the movie
3) there also seems to be a problem with recognizing more than one subtitles. I haven't entirely tested this out but it seems that PotPlayer sees the first subtitle only even if there are several in the directory
Could it be there is a problem with my SW version? Or is it Windows 7 Ultimate that cuases these issues ...
SoBizarre

1) changing the settings in the registry then closing PotPlayer will make no changes in the registry. In order to get the changes entered, I need to export the presets to a reg-file, then enter via that file
First you must add one folder via PotPlayer's subtitles settings (add whatever folder you want - "C:\" for example". After you do that, you must close PotPlayer. Open Task Manager and make sure no instance of PotPlayerMini.exe is running.
Then run regedit.exe. To be sure you have administrative privileges run it as Administrator. Find the key and edit strings to look like that:
http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/7430/potsubsregedit.th.jpg (http://img35.imageshack.us/i/potsubsregedit.jpg/)
Forget exporting and reg-files, just create/delete as many string as needed and edit them to look like above.
Then close registry editor and after that open PotPlayer. In Subtitles>Folder you should see this:
http://img542.imageshack.us/img542/830/subfolders.th.jpg (http://img542.imageshack.us/i/subfolders.jpg/)
Then make sure your subtitles settings look like this:
http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/1795/subsettings.th.jpg (http://img33.imageshack.us/i/subsettings.jpg/)
I you are using ffdshow, make sure everything subtitles related is unchecked.
I don't see the reason why the above shouldn't work for you, just as it does for me.
Cheers,

You are perfectly right, SB; and I now found the culprit. I did remember that I had the "Store settings to .ini-file" function ticked and I decided to test if this is going to change something. And lo & behold: switching it off makes PotPlayer behave exactly as you say; any changes in the settings are now reflected immediately in the registry. So thanks much for your efforts; I really appreciate it !

Hi
Huge improvement on this last release in sound quality and since my last post on higher playback speeds. Just one comment I have to set the playback setting to low quality. If set to high quality the high speed audio becomes a little boomy with echo. This should not be. Overall the sound quality now rivals VLC. Thanks
I've tried to change the time format for playtime/full time to Hr/M/S without success. I accessed the settings thrugeneral/osd messages/time format.
Any recommendations?
Thanks
PS it would be nice if the window could be minimized to controls only as VLC does by engaging the second inside X on upper left hand corner. Works only with some skins like hx_milky_1.1_0.9.0.vlt

powerdvd plays directly?
PowerDVD is a "licensed" BD player, along with TMT and one or another program. Developers need to pay to the BD consortium in order to get this "license" which allow you to decrypt the movies.
PP, MPC, VLC and many other are able to play decrypted files, but only "licensed" players can play encrypted on-the-go.

Alright SB; I get it. Even though the STs are in the same folder as the movie, they have to have the same name BEFORE the last dot (or suffix).
This will give me some work; before - thankfully - stumbling on the PotPlayer, I used VideoLAN; and whatever its other weaknesses it does save you the trouble of having to rename the STs (allowing the selection of whichever ST you choose. In other words, there is very few if any STs in my collection that bear the same name as the related movie :(

Added an option to play the next item when failed to play
Added CMD_VIDEO_CODEC_SIZE_MESSAGE, CMD_VIDEO_OUT_SIZE_MESSAGE, CMD_VIDEO_OUT_FPS_MESSAGE to skin support
Some fixes for specific FFmpeg audio codec
Some fixes for built-in H.264 DXVA decoder
Finally, but what's the difference between CMD_VIDEO_CODEC_SIZE_MESSAGE & CMD_VIDEO_OUT_SIZE_MESSAGE? Both gives video resolution for me.

With kmplayer you could drag a music folder with 1screen/picture in it and during the music is showed that as visualization when you selected slideshow.
However, when i try it the same way on potplayer all i get is the floating balls and not the picture. I know you you can select the folder to slide from but it would be nice if it automatically displayed the picture from inside the folder you drag in it.

I tried MPC-HC to DXVA WVC1, but it still failed..This proved you're right, Intel's VC1 VLD mode(ClearVideo) must be unusual.
So, Would you like to tell me why Intel's VC1_VLD isn't available by PotPlayer or MPC-HC? why only VC1_IDCT?
I would appreciate it greatly if you explain it.

Because Intel's VC1 VLD is not standard struct DXVA.
But intel's IDCT mode is standard DXVA.
I request document for VC1 VLD mode to intel, but intel cannot do anything...
It seems this is NDA stuff Arcsoft implements it but from the first look it doesn't look very efficient @ all for WMV3 or internaly it falls back to the Software decoder indeed as Eric mentioned (comparing vs libav). Though on the other hand also Arcsofts DXVA VC-1 implementation shows quiet some interesting efficiency differences with WVC1 streams it's less efficient as IMSDKs copy back decoder in terms of CPU utilization. Though Arcsofts upcoming TMT 5.2 DXVA Decoder is going to support some x264 "to much ref frame" bitstreams that many DXVA decoder fail on (problem in some older x264 encoder versions, CoreAVC DXVA and Mirillis DXVA being 2 implementations that can cope with these bitstreams as well Cyberlink still fails with those).

Seems that it also works for ArcSoft, fine. http://i.imgur.com/PH1il.jpg
I found no WVC1 VLD evidence of your screenshot.
If no VC1 Adapter Filter, I remember it output YUY2 on SNB?
I tried ArcSoft when Ver 5.2.1.118 beta released, ASVC1Vid.dll seems some difference which I dont know how to describe in english..

0/500 means the playback cycle was finished it is the load result of the first playback run :)
Arcsoft directly does not use DXVA you need dxva compatibility AV Splitter which can force it fails with .wmv (black screen)
results of Arcsoft alone added

Not the Adapter Filter is VLD the connection it allows with Arcsofts Decoder is VLD for .wmv WVC1 :)

Guys I have a weird issue with PotPlayer on my HTPC: basically when I use subtitles, the movie starts stuttering. In particular: every time the current subtitle line disappears, the movie freezes for a fraction of a second. It's very annoying, and I never noticed it on my pc, any ideas?
No one has any ideas about this? :( ?
In that case, can someone suggest an alternative method/filter (if there is one) to display subtitles with PotPlayer? Because like this it's unusable... I tried DirectVobSub, but I don't know how to make it work, it doesn't load automatically when there is a subtitle like on other players, even if I add it to the list of "extra filters"...

DXVA clearly isn't working with my install of PotPlayer (that or my graphics card is so weak it makes no difference). My CPU usage jumps to 66+% (Athlon II x3 450) when I play this HD example file I found online; its a .m2ts file. And, the framerate is painfully slow. I tried to follow this (http://www.svp-team.com/wiki/Daum_PotPlayer_with_DXVA) guide, but when I got to the step about selecting the ffdshow raw video filter, it wasn't in the list. Is it built in, or do I have to intall ffdshow-tryouts? Actually, I tried installing it, but maybe I've got to use a 64 bit build, since I'm using the 64 bit version of PotPlayer?

That worked beautifully on my office computer (just as a test), and hopefully, it will work just as well at home.
But, now I seem to have another challenge to figure out. When I go to Preferences > Association, check DVD in the AutoPlay section, click "OK(O)", close PotPlayer, and insert a DVD, it doesn't play it in PotPlayer. It's not even an option in the AutoPlay window or in the AutoPlay configuration under Control Panel. Is this a bug with the current beta? I'm using Win 7 64 bit and PotPlayer 1.5.31590 beta 32 bit. I figured it out. I ran regedit, found the key [Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DVD\shell\play\command], and changed the (Default) value to the line below.
"%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Daum\PotPlayer\PotPlayerMini.exe" "%1VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO" /autoplay
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. If you try this out, you should make a back up of that registry key first.

Well, it seems this problem won't stop annoying me...
Turns out the CUDA decoder doesn't work very well, at least for me, it generates video artifacts quite frequently, every couple of minute more or less in fact.
Also, DirectVobSub is no use, because enabling it like wanezhiling told me disables DXVA, making the video slow as the cpu isn't powerful enough to decode a 1080p video by itself (running on a at5iont-i based htpc, so ION gpu + atom cpu). Is there a way to use directvobsub without losing dxva?
And by the way, am I the only one having this problem (video freezing for a couple of freames every time a subtitle line disappears)? It's weird...

This Player looks nice and plays smooth, but sometimes it crashes by using seamless avi playback (with AVC or xvid).
Unfortunalty, it also sometimes crashes by changing simple things in the interface (like filters, soundsystem, overlay or so)
That wouldn´t be a major problem - but if under XP the Player crashes --> it freezes the whole OS and the PodplayerTask can´t be closed anymore and just only pressing the Reset Button helps. Will this annoying "Player can freeze whole OS" sometimes be fixed?
I have also KMPlayer, BsPlayer, Gomplayer, WMP, VLC and no other player ever had crashed.

I've read a lot of questions on how to go about creating a custom skin posted in this thread... but I don't see any answers.
I'd like to add a few toolbar buttons for time jump increments backwards and forwards. It's easy enough modifying the ini for smplayer to add the buttons. But it seems you have to create a whole new skin to achieve that in Potplayer. And while I'm not all that great at coding, I can eventually work things out in whatever coding format. But I'm not sure where to even start in PotPlayer.
I see a commercial product, DynamicSkinForm VC from Almediadev that works with C++ & Delph. Is this something to pursue?
I'd also like to get the text configured for bookmarks to pop up in a balloon when hovering the mouse cursor over the marks in the seek bar. I'm guessing that'd be a pretty tough task if possible at all.

Thanks CruNcher. Took me a while to realize the .dsf skin files were compressed archives that extract with 7zip/WinRAR. But I managed to copy some of your code over to the default.dsf skin I use and modify things a bit. I added 2 extra buttons for time jump for 30 seconds back and forward, and moved the previous and next functions from the default buttons to the AltCmdID function for those new buttons.
I modified the default previous and next buttons to time jump back and forward 5 seconds, and set AltCmdID to frame step back and forwards. That works really well now.
The AltCmdID alternative right mouse click command is a nice feature I hadn't noticed before I looked over your XML CruNcher. When I modified the previous and next button codes in the default.dsf skin, I noticed that there was no code there for the popup balloon to display the alternative right click function for ID_PLAYBACK_30SEC_BACK. The function works, but the balloon doesn't prompt you for it.
I tried to change ID_PLAYBACK_30SEC_BACK to 15 seconds by changing it to ID_PLAYBACK_15SEC_BACK. But PP doesn't recognize it. Is there any way to set custom time jump values in there, or are the values limited to just 5s, 30s, 1m, & 5m?
I have a few other questions (maybe pretty dumb sounding to a lot of people here) about some things I haven't figured out yet if anyone can answer them for me:
Is there any setting to have the playback point return to beginning of video when stopping playback? The option Preferences > Playback > 'Play from the latest point' is not set. But when I click the 'Close' button and hit 'Play" again, video play still resumes from the last point it was playing.
What good is Close button compared to just pausing if the video play point isn't reset to the start of the file?
Edit: I've noticed that some settings seem to require 'closing' and restarting to take.
How can I get the mouse activate DVD menus? Other media players use mouse left click.
What is the default action for single click left mouse?
Thx/TS

That bugged the heck out of me when I 1st started using PP a lot. I ended up stumbling on that setting looking for something else, and was really glad to put an end to it.
I have no problems with volume decreasing after setting it tho'. Are you sure you didn't have the EQ boosted before you disabled it? I'm guessing you've already checked your main system volume, and the sound mixer to see if PP is set low in there.

So did you enable Normalize or not? Not really clear on what you did. I have Normalize enabled because without it.. the volume is really low.. BUT with it enabled.. the volume decreases and increases randomly.. really want this to be fixed :(

Edit: OK. It works. It just doesn't work that way with madVR. :(
Too bad for me. madVR and high resolution subtitle is a deal breaker.
Edit 2: Got it to works now. Need to check VMR/EVR surface. Subtitle doesn't work with madVR internal decoder however.
---------------------
So is there a way for the subtitle to be rendered at higher resolution like MPC-HC's "Maximum Texture Resolution" setting? I tried a search and there are two post came up. One person say you can somehow do that with "Display on video" option, but it doesn't work for me. Thanks.

Sorry... I wasn't clear there. I was very happy to disable the darned thing, and my overall volume wasn't effected by doing it. I can't see how anyone with half an ear can tolerate the way EQ in PP warbles all over the place. Maybe I'm missing something to tame it down.
And again... you did check the system levels in Windows volume mixer, right?
I would love to try that, but how do I disable the built-in audio processing?
I see 'Built in Audio Renderer (cross fade)' at the bottom of the list in: Right-click > Audio > Audio Renderer. Or: Prefs > Audio > Audio Renderer. If it's being automatically set, you may need to choose another in order to to disable it. You might try testing the other audio renderers to see if any make a difference.
I'm really guessing at this myself here, but you might also try setting a System Wave or Master Control volume control method in: Prefs > Audio > Volume Control.
I'm sure there are more qualified people here to weight in on this.

If you are looking to disable all PP audio processing then it's Pref > Filter Control > "Built-in Audio processor settings" and uncheck "Use audio processing filters" check box. Renderer has nothing to do with it.

Is there any setting I need to change to play PAL DVDs using PotPlayer on my computer.
I tried to play some PAL DVDs, but PotPlayer failed to play. But I could play the same DVD using KMPlayer and Windows Media Player.
PotPlayer plays the Title1 and stops. It is unable to play the chapters. I get a black screen, where it should show the links to the chapters. When I move the mouse I could see the text for the chapters, but after I click on them nothing happens.
Does anybody know how to fix this issue in PotPlayer ?
Thanks in Advance.

Hi!. I have one problem with PotPlayer
The problem is that the header? (maybe, i dont really know too much about this) of the video when you record using PotPlayer is wrong
If i record with HuffYuv video plays perfect, i can open in VirtualDub and edit via Avysynth
But if i use another codec, HuffYuv from ffdshow, UT Video Codec, Techsmith or other i cant open with Virtualdub, watch with player (MPC) or open with Avisynth
Codecs or ffdshow configurations are not the problem, the problem is (i bet) the video is not ... ummm, created correctly or the header is not right. Virtualdub says that the video data is too short, mediaplayer says that it cannot render the video and so. But i guess the video is written right coz the size is the normal size of this codec, this video and this time of recording, i mean, except you cant open it, video seems to be right
When i open with Mediainfo the colorspace says RGB in this non-correct videos, but i record on YUV2 (coz of the recording hardware)
Dont know if i'm explaining propertly, can anyone check some other non-included-in-Potplayer codec in order to see if it can be decoded?

PotPlayer always has poor DVD playback since it was born...
Try another mpeg2 decoder like CyberLink (great playback on kind of DVDs) if you have.
You are recommended to initialize PotP and just do following two thing:

I dont know what made your Pot freeze when opening.
What I can do is just suggest you to uninstall it and clear totally. (search "PotPlayer" in registry and local disk and delete them.)
Then maybe you can try my PotPlayer(a Portable one) which I have turn update off. :)

A new Potplayer update is out. It includes a file history in the Favorite menu.
A brief request first. If anyone figures out how to either delete or edit the resulting file history please post a 'how to'. The file history works fine but, in my case, the history goes back months and the end result is that so many files are displayed that I can no longer see the desktop and I'm on a 1600x1200 IPS display :D
Changed subtitle outline/shadow modifications to depending on the size of subtitles
*Added an option to show history list of recent files in favorites menu
*Improved DVD playback auto resume option
Added an option to scale subtitle's outline/shadow to fit screen size
Fixed an issue that tray icon don't show up when using screen capture
*Added scale X,Y options to subtitle settings
EDIT - I found how to edit the history. This may not be the right way but it works.
1. Start Potplayer and open preferences. Go to General settings. Under general settings click the option to store settings to .ini file.
2. Go to your AppData folder, open the Potplayer file, and select the PotPlayerMini.ini file.
In that file, just before settings, you'll see "[RememberFiles]" followed by a set of lines formatted like this:
1=292615=F:\Movies\Election 2 (2006)\election.2.2006.avi
2=280076=F:\Movies\John Rabe (2009)\John_Rabe.avi
3=
The first number is the listing number, the second set of numbers is the remembered time position of the file.
To remove/edit the remembered files just cut from where you want and replace the files. For instance using this sample if I wanted to get rid of Election 2 from the file history, I'd copy everything after the first "=" sign in #2 then paste it after the first"=" sign in #1.
One thing of note, if you edit the Remembered file history make sure that you leave an open number after the last file like I did here ("3=". That's obviously the counter and there needs to be an open next logical number there for the next file that you open.
Also, if you're like me, and you don't save your settings to ini you can still do this. Do everything that I mentioned above then open Potplayer and play the file for about 5 seconds. Stop PP, open preferences, then uncheck the store to ini checkbox. Everything, including all edits, will then get stored to PP's internal setting file.

wanezhiling could you explain what you mean by "PotPlayer always has poor DVD playback since it was born..." I have installed it on many computers and dvds play better than anything. I think I mentioned a year or two ago that removing most of the files from the directory will mess up dvd playback, and your "portable" version is just that. But your advice to that guy who had PP basically killing his machine was good, erase and reinstall. The issues can be anything from downloading via huhthisseemslegit.com and installing a 76 bit version on a 13,7 bit system on an XP machine with a crack from China and with more codecs installed than the internet has ever seen and also savin everything to multiple .ini files while setting pp to autostart via android. That guys issue is not a BUG in pp, its the human factor =)

Edit: Sorry folks... I meant to ask if PP playback speed can be changed in increments of hundredths like smplayer, not tenths... 1.01, 1.02, 1.03... The x and c shortcut keys go +/- increments of tenths. Are there any key combinations to achieve finer adjustments?
Disregard: It seems video playback speed can be changed in increments of tenths... 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 from what I read here. (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1535491#post1535491) But I can't seem to find how to do that.
The 'Low quality' setting on the playback speed menu is the only option I've found that keeps audio from shifting pitch when changing video playback speed. It works well for me, but I'm just wondering if I've missed another method there, as well as not finding a setting finer speed increments

Hello Forum,
this is my first message.
I use potplayer since 2 years with all media and i´m very happy with all the great features.
Since 3 or 4 updates i have the following prob: potplayer doesn´t play files from m3u files.
Message is "Cannot find the file. Does not exist or can not be accessible."
Going deeper into it i noticed, that potplayer now needs the whole directory information in the playlist file - otherwise it looks for the mp3 files in it´s installation dir.
I would say this is a bug or is there any new item in the preferences to solve this problem?
All my playlists only contain the file names - so all the lists don´t work in potplayer anymore.
Any suggestions to solve this issue?
Thank´s for any help!

Evr custom Presenter is always preferred by Potplayer even if you force EVR default it is always using EVR Custom Presenter (in the gui it shows EVR but in the OSD it shows the truth being still EVR Custom that's Rendering), but i want to use EVR default not EVR Custom Presenter, and my guess is it's decision Engine force it to Evr Custom Presenter because of Subtitles, though i wonder for what having the Option @ all when from Potplayer devs EVR Custom Presenter is clearly prefered ;)
Evr Custom is not the best option especially for every further Intel Platform it will be worse in it's current working way (it needs to be reworked), as intels Hardware Scaling is clearly much better (since Sandy Bridge and Intel HD Graphics) then anything EVR Customs (Shader based Scaling) currently has to offer and it's lowering the overall System Resource usage also by a big amount (less stress on the GPU more resources free for other tasks). This most probably will also change on the next Discrete GFX card Generation as well.
The concept of the currently used EVR Custom is getting old the same that Potplayer shares with MPC-HC and mostly every other Player based on this concept, it seems Cyberlink and Arcsoft are 1 step ahead again in adapting to this change.

Are you saying that there is something to change in EVR?
What's that?
No, I mean they directly refused to make anything changed about what CruNcher said:
Evr custom Presenter is always preferred by Potplayer even if you force EVR default it is always using EVR Custom Presenter (in the gui it shows EVR but in the OSD it shows the truth being still EVR Custom that's Rendering), but i want to use EVR default not EVR Custom Presenter

Are you really sure? I've double checked it but EVR is somewhat different from EVR C/P.
As I described above, EVR problem (chroma upsampling bug) can be solved by changing colorspace.
I don't know the reason why the defaul value is changed though.
With EVR it's impossible to use pixel shader.
AFAIK, there is not much things to do with EVR as it's a renderer by default.
That's the reason why there is another customizable renderer called EVR C/P.
Almost every player I've ever experienced, they simply use the renderer by system default (EVR).
Any tweak? Well, I don't think so.

I copied CruNcher's words and its their answer.
That is not EVR CP.
When using EVR(Vista/.Net3)...
OSD image is draw at Internal Video Process(Decoder) Filter.
They claim you are using the true EVR not EVR C/P when you select EVR(Vista/.Net3) to be default renderer..
I dont know too much about EVR or EVR C/P, and they seem to be impatient for some reason..
So I wont send this again in case they ignore me next time.:(

(in the gui it shows EVR but in the OSD it shows the truth being still EVR Custom that's Rendering)
I've got another answer from the developer about this. I had a same question.
According to him, the OSD and subtitles of EVR are drawn on a transparent window unlike that of EVR C/P. (It's not a mixed stream.)
That was also possible in VMR9 but it wasn't implemented because of stability. (Probably, it's about KMP)
The crucial reason to use EVR C/P as a default renderer is that there is no capture pin in EVR.
EVR C/P is preferred by default to capture a video while playing it with DxVA enabled.

Added the ability to remember played position within a playlist*
Some fixes for DVD playback
Fixed an error of CUDA/QuickSync decoder while changing the image size dynamically
Fixed screen position problem of some ASS/SSA subtitles
Some fixes for Video Renderer
Replaced 0.1 sec. audio sync ( Shift+>,< ) with 0.02 sec.
*That's a great feature if you are using PotPlayer with several playlists.So PotPlayer has writes some values to the related playlist file when it has finished playing the file;
- "start" value (that is last played frame's value of the file) is to remember last played position of the file ( Check "remember played position within a playlist" option under playlist settings to activate this feature )
- "playname" value (that is last played file's name) is to remember which file was last played from the related playlist ( That last played file will be played automatically when a playlist is selected under right click > Album/Favorites menu! (The latest stable version of PotPlayer has this feature too!) )
Cool bookmarking madvr freeze isn't happening anymore.
Too bad the the "remember played position within a playlist" option doesn't work if you double click. Kind of defeats the purpose... Because it starts from the front and overwrites the previous position.

Looks like it only works with albums though, not with playlists.
So you need to open Playlist window (F6) -> Right click -> Manage Album -> New and add files there. You can then switch between albums
from Right click -> Album/Favorites and the last played file from the album should be opened, at the last position.
But it's good enough for me! Really helps when watching different complete shows.

Install AV Splitter (http://forum.avmedia.su/viewforum.php?f=7&sid=096dc239ea10a67d4f8026366f245418) first..
