Hello,
i remember reading a tutorial on how to encode a 1080p source into a 1080p or 720p mpeg2 using HCEnc. I also remember there was a custom matrix for encoding in 1080p but i can not find or remember it at all.
Do you know what i am talking about or do you know a tutorial for this?

NOTCH and MPEG matrixes is good for that propouses but depend of bitrate, but why use crappy MPEG2 instead superior H264? You need tons of bitrate to preserve quality with MPEG2.

^Mostly because a lot of folks don't have PC's that are powerful enough to play HDTV with H264.

Especially in 3rd world countries.

I cut and edit sports highlights, and believe me, there are plenty who cannot watch HDTV in AVC/H.264.
