Hi, everyone.
Recently i tried to use last OS from Microsoft. I've used couple of builds, like 7264 and last build 7600.16385.090713-1255, wich already became RTM, and will be placed on MS Connect by July 24.
Under neither of these builds, nor x86 or x64, I couldn't use Avisynth.
When i removing avisynth from chain "source-avisynth-codec", all works properly. I've tried all variations of running programs with admin rights, but there wasn't visible result.
Also i can't encode any audio with avisynth as mediator.
Usually i'm using command line, and it looks like that: cmd starting up, x264.exe starting up... and that's all. I don't even see in cmd window any reaction of x264.
MeGUI after attempt to open preview window\start encode just crashes.
Do someone have any idea what can cause such a bug?
I think that frameserver even didn't start. But why....
I'll be glad to provide all info that can help in finding solution of my problem.

Could be many things including pibcak, StaxRip might tell you the problem as it warns about common pitfalls.

I have been using AVISynth on both the beta and RC without difficulty (32 bit). I have a hard time believing MS messed with things that significantly from build 7100 (which is what I'm currently using) that would change how AVS works. Perhaps there is another issue that is preventing AVS' normal operation.

I can also confirm that I haven't managed to run Avisynth with windows 7600.16385.090713-1255 X64.
Tried to run a simple open and resize script (for an XVID file) and view it in WMP or Media player classic homecinema (both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions).
The 64 bit version of MPC-homecinema just spouts it cann't render the avs.
The 32 bit version of MPC-homecinema says it cannot find the decompressor for it.
I have installed the FFD directshow filters and the XVID does open with these codecs when I open it directly in MPC-homecinema(both versions).

you need to have the x64 version of avisynth installed to be able to use avisynth in x64 apps.

Could you please redirect me to the Avisynth X64 version as I couldn't find it on sourceforge.

Still I don't understand why it doesn't work on X32 of MPC-HC.

win7 has a fairly different concept of dealing with video playback (media foundation) in addition to providing it's own filter/codec set for playing back everything.

see Atak_Snajpera's post for some more information and discussion.

squid_80's avisynth x64 and compatible plugins (http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/squid_80/)

Does not Windows 7 pro have an XP mode make it possible for all programs that work on XP but possibly not on Windows 7. Just buy that

O.k. I have to rectify my previous posts...with installing the latest FFDSHOW and AVISynth (Usuall 32 bit version) I have managed to get my scripts to show up in WMP-HC 32 bit.

Atak_Snajpera, i've used your program before had posted my message here. It didn't help. Yes, it's working perfectly, but it seems that my problem didn't concerns media foundation.
As i said in my first post here, i CAN open scripts in WMP, it shows them correctly with all filters used in *.avs, but i can't use avisynth with x264. For these week or so I've tried many builds of win7, and problem showed up on each of them :(

Windows 7 64bit RC here, no problems... (yet)

TheRyuu, yes, i remember that someone said it before already. But I didn't tried it, mainly because win7 became gold already and RC1 is quite old.

I'm able to generate encodes with AutoMKV 0.98.4 just fine. And it uses AVIsynth 2.5.

Cheers

I am having the same issue. Running 7600 RTM Win7 x64 and when I try to open my avs script in media player classic home cinema it just hangs at a black screen. I have tried different version of avisynth and different versions of ffdshow, I have tried using haali media splitter or acrsoft matroska splitter and the result is always the same: black screen.

How are you running the Win7 RTM when it hasn't even been released for download on MSDN yet?

maybe he works for an OEM Gokumon.

Because they just give away copies of an OS before it's released to their employees to take home? I doubt that.

hajj_3

he didn't say he was doing this encoding at home also most OEM's will provide their employees with Company laptops which they will use to work on from home and take it to the office with them.

So maybe you shouldn't go off topic by asking him where he got his copy of windows7 from.

Running Windows 7 x64 7600.16385.090713-1255, no problems here with avisynth! That includes running avs files from MPC-HC etc (32-bit mplayerc + 32 bit ffdshow + 32 bit avisynth 2.5.8).

are you running 64bit or 32bit win7?

Windows 7 x64 (thus 64 bit). The main thing is not to mix 32 bit and 64 bit programmes, as well as using the correct filters (as per Vista etc).

In my case, I just installed everything like I did under Vista x64 and everything works perfectly.

FoxRacR17
3rd August 2009, 19:45
Same here. Running x64, same exact version number of win7, installed everything like I did in vista x64, but it doesnt work. Using the latest 32 bit versions of everything (media player HC, avisynth, ffdshow).

FoxRacR17

well I just completely reinstalled win7 x64, and as soon as it turned on I installed the latest ffdshow, haali, and avisynth, and it still didnt work.

Windows 7 RTM x64 + avisynth 2.5.8 (32bits) + Haali (11/01/2009) + ffdshow (25/07/09) = No problems, all work perfectly

burfadel

It must be a problem with something in the avisynth script. Have you tried a barebones script (aka just the source filter)? What source filter are you using?

FoxRacR17
13th August 2009, 18:44
nope its not the script. I have a raid card in my system with 5 1TB hdds attached and thats where my video files and avisynth scripts are. The same scripts that work perfectly on vista x64 would not work on win7 x64. After finding out this I restored the trueimage backup I made of my vista x64 setup and that very same script that would not workin in win7 x64 worked in vista x64

FoxRacR17
14th August 2009, 11:58
ok i think i have tracked down the problem. And the problem is with the driver for my raid card. When I moved the video file to my ssd that is not set up in any type of raid or hooked up to my dell perc 5/i raid card the .avs file worked perfectly. But as soon as I try and have the source video file on my raid array with the perc card, if I let it sit long enough avisynth comes back with the error "timeout waiting for graph to start" I assume that i will need to wait for an offical driver for win7 x64 from dell, but does anyone have an idea for a quick workaround?

So far, I can see that everyone, with few exceptions, have working avisynth+x264 under win7. But nevertheless i can't manage to run avisynth properly with x264 under win7. And I just can't figure out why :(

hajj_3
18th August 2009, 14:19
are you trying to use a 64bit x264.exe? if so use a 32bit x264.exe

Everything including x264, filters and avisynth is x86 running under win7 x64. :(

Okay, guys. Answer was really dumb. I've deleted everything in my "plugins" folder, except "directshowsource", witch i've used to open my input video, and it worked! I have over 140 filters out there and tomorrow i'll find out exacly witch filter had caused such problem.
Sorry for inconvenience i've caused.

I'm having issues with Win7 X64 and Avisynth. I keep getting the following error: DirectShowSource: Timeout waiting for graph to start.

I've re-installed AviSynth, x264 and haali.

Any ideas?

have you cleaned out the avisynth plugins folder as mentioned above? Make a copy of it then delete the plugins folder from the avisynth folder then reinstall, see if that works!

I've uninstalled and deleted the Avisynth folder, and then re-installed. Still the same error.

what exacly do you trying to open? h.264, mpeg2? mkv, 264, avi? If video-stream is in some container try to demux it.

Is your source video file on a hard drive attached to any type of raid card? Or on any harddrives that are hooked up in a software raid on your mobo?

Thats the problem that I am having with avisynth, if the source video file is on the hard drives that are hooked up to my raid card i get that error, but if I move the source video files to my SSD which is hooked straight up to my mobo and not in any type of raid the script loads right up

I'm trying to open a M2TS file. I've also tried demuxing and only using the vc1 stream, but that didn't work either.

DirectShowSource("H:\WORKING\video\cut.m2ts",fps=23.9759856527702,audio=false)

Using the above inside an avs file, this is the error I get.
DirectShowSource : Timeout waiting for graph to start.

DirectShowSource: couldn't open file

I managed to fix my problem. The solution was to use the Codec Tweak Tool (found at codecguide) and force M2TS files to use Haali. Oh, how I love Windows Media Foundation...</end sarcasm>

I am trying to load up the avisynth script creator in megui but am unable to open the video vile. M2TS files work if the codec within them is not VC-1 it seems (the special features open but the main movie does not open)

Get a timeout error waiting for script. Tried codec tweaker, and this is all a fresh install.

Anyone solve this? 64-bit Windows FINAL.

Don't know if this relates to any of the problems here but...

If you have microsoft office 2007 DO NOT INSTALL MICROSOFT GROVE!!! MAKE SURE YOU TAKE THAT PART OF IT OUT!!!

I forgot about it and couldn't figure out why megui keeps crashing everytime I load an avisynth file. I just uninstalled that part of microsoft office 2007.

Now it loads properly :)

This is what I get when trying to use directshowsource to frameserve x264 video in an mkv container into virtualdub.

I am using 64 bit avisynth, 64 bit virtualdub, and 64 bit ffdshow. I used the codec tweeker thing to set everything to ffdshow.

http://tweakmy.net/rgt/img/nonsense.png

It just isn't happening.

I sense a distinct lack of a 64 bit MKV splitter in your list...

... just use the 32 bit toolchain. It's much more robust, and you can even use avs2avi or Lord_Mulder's nifty tool for automatic linking between 32 bit avisynth and 64 bit x264.

Can u explain it for me?
I have the same issues in Win7 x64 with M2TS VC-1 files.
What did you mean by this:
force M2TS files to use Haali.

yet i have a question that

my OS is win7 x86
when i use avisynth from megui to open a .mpg file

it can work and suggest me use dgindex

but when i use it to open a .avi file

avisynth and megui should be fale and quit(even use XP mode)

my codecs is win7codecs+mpc_hc

avi shoud be play as well

i have already used Tool for changing preferred DirectShow filters in Windows 7

and megui could open .avs(AVIsource) writen by myself
