Hi all, I would be glad if anyone could provide a pointer to a not self-contained MP4 movie file.
Thanks in advance.

What is a "not self-contained MP4 movie file"?

Maybe he refers to something like those "dummy" MOV files for Quicktime, that are actually playlists containing an URL.
So these files don't actually contain any data, they will only launch the playback of some online video stream.
Why you can do with such files: Extract the actual URL and then use something like MPlayer to dump the stream to a local file.

A mp4 where the real video/audio data is contained in differentes files. It's like a normal mp4 without the mdat atom. But I never saw any. I think you can create one with mp4box.
