Is it better to do 1 pass or 2 pass with Divx 4.12?

2 pass. In 1 pass the codec has to guess at bitrates for scenes. In 2 pass it knows. THe quality will always be better.

Then is it actaully worth the extra time it takes.
After all its double from the start.

Now when it does the second pass it uses a log file, the first pass makes the log file, how big is the log file?
I'm assuming its just a txt file.

i can't tell you for sure, but it is not going to be that large. Compared to the size of the final avi and the vobs, it is insignifigant. Don't worry about it. :-)

Thanks this helps a lot.
So you guys really notice a difference, and all this time I've been doing 1-pass.
So does everybody use 2 pass?
