I tried to check the file settings of a video file encoded on Mac or Linux using MediaInfo on Windows Vista HP.
by mediainfo, I meant the settings like deblock etc and the ref numbers etc. Those settings. Everything there is plain for those files that are encoded on Mac or Linux when view on Windows. Is there a way to see those infos on those files on windows?

How did you encode those files? Are you sure x264 was used? Post a sample clip.

@MKVCrazy:
You need to understand that only the x264 encoder writes these information as "user data" to the bitstream. For easier debugging.
H.264 files encoded on the Mac probably used the QuickTime encoder, so the information you are looking for may not be present in the stream at all.
Some information can be reconstructed from the stream though, even if the encoder didn't write them explicitly...
Another good analyze tool is AVInaptic, maybe it can give some more information:

and that's only if the user didn't remove them from the bitstream either
(whether by editing it directly or using an x264 build that has the capability to not write the signature to stream).

More info of the file I'm trying to view.
Container is .M4V
CAVLC is used
Baseline@L2.1 with 3 Ref Frames
Resolution is 480x266
This is real strange for me to see it plays on my PSP with 5.00 FW. I know PSP plays CAVLC and .M4V but I couldn't make a file with 3 Ref Frames and any Baseline on my PSP even though in Sony PSP's FAQ says it PSP plays Baseline@L1.3 plays.
The file is encoded by encode-handheld.pl v3.5
Also strangely, this file plays also on iPhone/iPod Touch and iPods.

I thought the PSP is a very powerful video player, capable of 16 b-frames in Main Profile.

The PSP can play Main Profile with 16 b-frames without a problem. But only 3 reference frames are allowed and no b-pyramid.

Hi guys, I have found my way out to make files that play for my PSP but I have another problem. Does anyone know if I can hide/erase those settings that you see when viewed with MediaInfo? The settings such as ref_frames, b-frames etc and the deblock etc?

To quote Dark Shikari from another thread:
In theory, yes. But I'm not going to tell you how to do it, because we don't want you to.

Lol. I do want to. It's not fair that only Mac/Linux users can hide them but not Windows users.

It has nothing to do with any operating system, and everything to do with the fact that a rather popular mp4 muxer is buggy as hell and drops the SEI information inadvertently.
