Hello,
I've been looking around here to see if there is a way to cut/exclude some of the video I'm rendering from a DVD .IFO to .avi.
I would like to omit the first 15-30 seconds of "Warning/copyright" labeling of the Title but can't find an option in AutoGK to do it.
Can someone point me to a thread or version that would make this possible??
Thanks for any info.

You may have to preprocess it with PGCEdit or similar software.

Edit: Vobblanker is easier to use and might suit your needs.

Thanks mikenadia,
I had a look at PDCEdit and my brain imploded!
Saw that InfoEdit might suit my needs better (remove 1st chapter -39sec) however I can't seem to do it/use it correctly.
I'll have to read up on the process.....
Thanks for your help.

You have a warning as part of the same title as the main video? That's unusual. If it does take up a chapter, then you can go back and decrypt it using DVD Decrypter in IFO Mode. Just deselect the first chapter.

With the entire thing on the hard drive you can blank out that chapter in VobBlanker. Open the DVD in VobBlanker and highlight the VTS in question so that it appears in the lower screen. Highlight it in the lower screen and hit the 'Cells' button to the right. In the new screen 'Blank' out that first cell followed by 'Apply'. Return to the main screen, give it an 'Output Folder' and 'Process'.

As mikenadia said, you can't do something like that within AutoGK. It has to be done before it ever hits AutoGK.

And welcome to the forum.

Hi manono, thanks for the welcome!
I'll try VobBlanker as you suggest - Thanks very much for your help.

@mrmaton

Hi!

Asw an alternative, AFTER you've created the .AVI, you can easily use VirtualDub to cut the undesired piece as follows:

Cutting with VirtualDub (or any of its variants):

1)Load your original (DivX-compressed or otherwise) .AVI into VirtualDub
2) Set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copying"
3) Move slider to the starting point of the scene you wish to delete
4) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Go to next keyframe"
5) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Set Selection Start"
6) Move slider to the ending point of the scene you wish to delete
7) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Go to next keyframe"
8) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Set Selection End"
9) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Delete frames"
10) Save with a new filename

Thanks setarip,
I've only used AUTOGK up till now and have seen VirtualDub running but have never used it manually.....
When I look through the AUTOGK program directory I see a folder called 'VDubMod', in it I can run an .exe called 'VirtualDubMod.exe' -
When I run it, it's labelled as "VirtualDubMod 1.5.4.1"
Now, when going through your instructions (with this version 1.5.4.1)
1) I can load the original
2) I can set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy" from the "Video" dropdown menu, however I don't see an "Audio" dropdown menu to select/assign "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copy"...
*- Do you know if it's possible to assign this variable somehow with this version???

Thanks for your help.

Hmm, I tried to complete the steps (3-10) without assigning Audio Direct Stream Copying and my result was a little weird...
From the file menu I selected "Save as.." and left all standard settings....
When I went to play the newly saved file, it didn't run in WMP (codec missing) or Nero Showtime (it played but the screen was blank and the audio was garbled)...
Maybe this is not the version of VirtualDub I should be using for this......???
Another thing.... when I selected properties of the new file, the Summary TAB was blank and contained no information whatsoever.... that was weird too!!!
Thanks for you help setarip, this does sound like the easiest method so far to get rid of 39sec at the start of my video....

however I don't see an "Audio" dropdown menu to select/assign "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copy"...In VirtualDubMOD it's in the "Streams" dropdown menu...

And the audio is set for Direct Stream Copy by default.

@mrmatonWhen I went to play the newly saved file, it didn't run in WMP (codec missing) or Nero Showtime (it played but the screen was blank and the audio was garbled)...

Please load the INITIAL .AVI (BEFORE loading into VirtualDubMOD) into GSpot and post a screen capture back here...

Well, I tried again using a differnt AVI source with the method setarip_old suggested and it worked exactly as expected....
I'll try the AVI source from the pic above again... hopefully I just did something wrong....
Thanks for all your help.

A bit of friendly advice - Obliterating a filename is only going to create curiosity and skepticism regarding the source...

Sorry, I assumed the point of posting an image of GSpot would be to analyze the data/codec/variables of the source AVI.
I created the source AVI using AutoGK from one of my personally owned DVDs, why anyone would be curious or skeptical about its filename (11) makes little sense to me...
For the record, your (setarip_old) advice and guidelines for using VirtualDub(MOD) to remove unwanted content works flawlessly and is a breeze compared to editing IFO's etc....
I must have made a mistake during my first attempt, but since then every one I've tried has been successful.
Thanks again for all your help.

Thank you Setrip!!! That was one of the few remaining things I wanted to learn! I wanted my daughter to be able to watch Tommy Boy, but there was some parts I didn't want on there. I knocked the scenes out of there on the first try! YOU ROCK! :)

Thanks again,
Paul
